Any problems you here about I refer to as being a part of the Mac Rumors Effect.

Basically the MR boards attract a very large number of complainers versus the unheard Mac owners (the majority) that have never had a problem with their iMac. No need to worry about switching, it'll be painless.

This is true. You will find a few complains from me, but they are generally minimal or questioning in nature. On occasion, it's been frustration. However, don't let that scare you. I've had 7 Macs since 1988, including:
Mac SE
Performa 6115CD
iMac G3
iBook G3
PowerBook G4
PowerMac G5
MacBook Pro C2D
(I presently own the last 3 shown).

This dates back to 1988. Overall, my experience with these machines has been top-notch. I've had maybe a handful of issues in the last 19-20 years. I can't say the same about my friends and their Windows machines just in the last couple years.

WOW :)
Oh man u know what i just remembered was that macworld is in january !
And i bet, since i bought the mac, i am going to get screwed over and there WILL be an update to them there. 45nm i bet thats all it wud be anyways .

There is most likely NOT going to be an update to the imac (I actually polled this a while ago as well) so don't worry about it, probably a 10-20% chance at most.

I switched about 2 1/2 years ago and now have switchers following in my wake. I can honestly say I will never buy another Windows PC again. Learning Mac OS isn’t hard at all, it’s actually easier to do things on a Mac than a Windows machine. I found forgetting the clumsy Windows way of doing things the most challenging part. The Mac way of doing things is logical, as if designed for humans to do, you will understand what I mean soon enough. I now have four Macs around the house, 3 in use and one that is usually loaned out to friends who want to try a Mac. So far 100% of the people who test drove have bought Macs. So fear not, and enjoy the ride.

i picked up a Power Mac G3 from eBay last year for £21 have been upgrading it so far its the best computer i have ever used i don't give a s%!t about windows as i use to use Linux more and windows for gaming only only thing i dont like about mac computers is i cant build them my self

If anyone out there that has made the switch over had any difficulties or anytihng?

I bought my first mac in August when the aluminum iMacs came out. I was so impressed with it, I bought a MacBook Pro a couple of weeks ago for masters level classes.

My only regret is not buying a mac sooner! ;)
