No. I do admit a matte screen option on the 13" would be nice, but I don't have a problem with glossy (and my last computer, a Toshiba PC, had a matte screen). I like the aluminum body. I really like the MBP's hardware, in addition to the OS.

Yeah, OP... I can't agree. But I won't down rank you for a difference in opinion like some other people seem to be. I have friends with Thinkpads, and they're excellent.

But, I can't say I've had the same experience with my aluminum Macbook. It's over three years old now, and it hasn't sustained a single dent, and the enclosure only has a few tiny scratches here and there. I brought this thing to school with me literally every day. It endured falling on the floor in my bag, being shoved into tiny lockers, and much more. I also brought it with me during a summer of field work (geologist). I still bring it with me to work every day. I just have a neoprene sleeve for it that I then put in whatever bag I'm using. I clean it here and there (honestly, the glass screen makes cleaning the screen extremely easy and quick), but most certainly don't baby the thing.

So, yeah, I won't hesitate to buy a new Macbook Pro.

We don't drive our laptops around at 50 MPH.

That has nothing at all to do with the point I was making.

Saying "if you don't drop your laptop, it's a non-issue" is like saying "if you don't crash your car, it's a non-issue". In the real world, sometimes things happen which you didn't do on purpose. A machine which breaks when that happens is, in that respect, worse than one which doesn't.

Look, think about the magsafe connector. Sure, if you just never trip over the power cable, it hardly matters -- but in the real world, every laptop I've ever had with a magsafe power connector has at least once sat on a table unplugged where another laptop woulda been on the floor.

I haven't had much trouble myself with the aluminum cases, but if Apple started selling a thicker machine which ran cooler, had better impact protection, and stuff like that? I'd buy it instantly. I would rather have a machine built to work reliably than a machine built to Look Impressive.

While I agree the 13" aluminum unibody design is far more attractive than the previous plastic 13" MacBooks, a lot of us (myself included) came from the previous 15" MBP design - which in my opinion - was one of the most attractive laptop designs on the market. And still is.

I also prefer the previous aluminum version. I am still using the my previous version MBP. I am planning on buying a new MBP when the Ivy Bridge version is released. It would be nice to have an updated case (post unibody), but is not a deal breaker.

The only change I support is the blackish liquid metal design that was floating around. As far as aesthetics I think the MBP is the best looking laptop hands down for a professional look. Alienware laptops look decent for what they are but when it is all said and done they look like a teenagers toy.

I have some silver carbon fiber parts here that would make a nice looking laptop but honestly... I don't like the feel of carbon fiber and if you hit it wrong it can unravel. It's great for strong and light structures but I wouldn't want it on a computer.
