Not at all! USB2.0 has bitrate of 480Mbps. That's 4 times more than UHD BD is able to emit!

Yep, we are talking about ripping, not playing back on computer.
And yep, makeMKV does rip UHD blurays, with a small limitation (preloaded keys), but the workflow seems to be oiled already. The list of known-good BDXL drives you can find on internet pretty easily.

Am I trying to play uhd blue ray this week is it possible to play
I need to try non uhd movie also though I fear my 45% read/write fails are Asus or Windows 10 protection enabled

Success at last, today my Asus external writer successfully allowed Tomb Raider to be mkv'd via Tipard app.
Which leaves Girl with the dragon tattoo as probable disc error.
Maybe I'll try uhd playback in a few weeks.
Think I'll try and ISO Tomb Raider to try writing functions.

Great!
What exactly does this Tipard convert?

quick copy reply

  • Convert Blu-ray Disc/folder/iso image file to video like MP4/MKV/MOV/AVI/WMV, and more with Super-high Quality
  • Rip DVD disc/movie to various video formats such as MP4, AVI, MKV and others to save on computer at stunning fast speed
  • Convert any video format to others as a professional Video Converter with no limitation
  • Extract audio file like MP3, MP2, M4A and more from Blu-ray/DVD/video
  • Highly Support any popular digital devices like iPhone, iPad and iPod, Android phone/tablet and more
Nice simple blu ray converter I only purchased the App a few days earlier due to gwdt read fail@45%
.
Think I'll iso Tomb Raider.
Then I'll try uhd blue ray in a few weeks.
Manged to get Tomb Raider onto plex server, viewing via Infuse on Sony 4k t.v.

Slightly off topic though Blu Ray writer question.
As I have since tested 1st 25gb BD disk when I successfully ran win10 recovery tool -saved iso to BD disk.

Is it possible I could continue to add files to BD disk to make use of storage or is 20gb approx wasted.

It is possible via multisession writing.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/desktop/imapi/creating-a-multisession-disc

But this applies only to data discs.
Not for BD movie disc, although modern bluray players play also data discs.
If you plan to use computer as your playback device, then the whole data/movie disc distinction won’t matter.
Exept for data disc you will access as any filesystem - as files and folders.
Movie disc plays with menus, as seen since invention of dvd.

Which means I can continue to add data files to win10 iso on existing BD disc.

I’m not sure qhat do you mean by “iso on BD disc”.
Do you store iso images on BD-R media as files?
Normally one would burn iso image to disc, resulting iso contents (file structure) being burned to disc, not the iso file itself.

What I have stored on single layer 25GB BD disc is Windows 10 recovery ISO file.
This ISO is bootable, meaning if my laptop couldn't run or boot from ssd.
I could booth the ISO from Blu Ray drive and re install Windows 10.
Like a 'clean' install of O.S. -operating system.

Edited
Priitv8 you are correct the file structure is burned to disc when I browse file contents via Windows Explorer.

I'm still running your multisession writing script, though I'm a learner and suspect I'm missing something when I tried a test run from VB Studio.
I''ll update via this thread and maybe someone can help.

My Visual Studio Error from your provided Multisession code.
No tak to run found. Configure Tasks

Last attempt at Girl with Dragon tattoo mkv via tippard app.
Whent it fails @45% read error-is it disc fault or cause i's dual layer BD disc.
I can't return it to Amazon as i Can't rip.
Other movies are mkv'ng via Tippard and work fine.
Since switched to Infuse as Plex cloud services are in permanent shutdown from 30/11/18
Need to tidy up some part uploads and get used to Infuse which seems to access win10 laptop and one drive.

But can you play it back without errors?
read errors are normally media errors.
I don't know, if they have ever been used as part of a copy protection scheme, though.
