iBooks and iTunes U Updated With iOS 7 Redesigns

By ' backed up to your computer' do you mean to your hard drive, or in iTunes ? If to your hard drive, do you know of where I can read how to do that? I realize it is probably too late for me now, but for future reference. I would like to know. I have a PC running Windows 7. Thanks for any advice you might have. Wish I had known to do that before, I want my shelves back but it's most likely too late now.
