I buy exclusively from sticker boy. They have a better selection of skins. I've been getting skins now since I bought my iPad 2 a year ago and for the past year I've noticed that icarbons is always playing catch up with sticker boy. They have the same templates but sticker boy had them first. One year ago icarbons templates were VERY different from what they are today... until they copied sticker boy. Also, one year ago icarbons ONLY sold carbon textured skins. Now they also copied designs from sticker boy.

Just to clarify, none of us use the "same templates" to produce our skins. Apple doesn't provide any such templates, just a basic CAD layout that is available to all case manufacturers. While I can't speak to the design/manufacturing process of other companies, I personally find it easiest to work directly from the device, using Apple's CAD files as a reference.

As for finishes, it really comes down to how deep the pockets of the company are, as these films used to make these skins are pricey, and there are minimum order requirements from the film manufacturers like 3M. Film availability is also an issue in different markets. Here in Canada, I have a very limited selection to work from, so if I need to expand the selection, it means importing the film from overseas typically, which requires a larger order, and a bigger investment.

It's a bit of a stretch to say that iCarbons copied Sticker Boy, either with templates or finishes. As the market changes, they need to adapt. Last year, Carbon was the rage. This year, people are looking for something different, and companies like Sticker Boy, iCarbons, and myself adjust accordingly.

First off, I want to say that I think its great that a Vendor is identified as a Vendor and isn't a "regular joe" lurking around here as a shill. I appreciate the integrity and even though that's supposed to be the rule/norm here on MacRumor's, not every vendor abides by it. Some even pose as regular posters just to badmouth their competition. So thank you to ElementSkins for identifying yourself.

Secondly, I've used skins now from several different vendors and there is no way that they are all made the same way from the same template. Anyone who has purchased at least two different skins from two different vendors realizes that just by applying them. There are good skin templates and not so good ones. I found the iCarbon skins pretty good so far, as have been those from Zagg and StealthArmor.

But finally, just got to say....LOVING my new brushed aluminum iCarbons skin. I didn't like it when I first took it from the package but it changes appearance once applied dramatically. Very good looking, unique and sexy. Good stuff and thanks!

Thanks, just trying to follow the rules!

Your right, the quality of the layout, as well as the material used does vary from vendor to vendor. Most of us use 3M Di-Noc, which is probably the best overall film on the market. Then there is the garbage that comes from China....

I've heard great things about iCarbons, and quite like some of the designs they come out with. If you are buying their product, I have no doubt you'd be happy with it.

I've come across a problem with my iCarbons back skin installation for the iPad 4. Everything went fine except for one corner which I cannot get to stick. I've done the 'advanced corner techniques' many times but it's almost like there is no adhesive left on the very tip of the corner skin. Am I doing it wrong or what's going on?

You may try notifying iCarbons. I had a question regarding one of mine and they just shipped another one to me. Very good customer service.

I did contact iCarbons and they were kind enough to send me another one. Just excellent customer service and their product, despite my problem, is top-notch. The skin looks amazing and feels amazing.
