Apple Vision Pro users can watch a new episode of the "Adventure" series starting today, delving into a freezing underwater dive in the Arctic with athlete Ant Williams.

The Ice Dive episode follows Williams as he attempts to shatter the world record for swimming the longest distance under ice with just one breath.

Ice Dive is the third episode in the Adventure series on the Vision Pro headset. The first Adventure episode, Highlining, was one of the first immersive videos that Apple made available when the Vision Pro launched. Parkour, another episode, launched earlier this year.

Apple has been working to bring more 3D videos to the Vision Pro over the last few months. There have been new dinosaur-focused Prehistoric Planet episodes, a new Boundless series exploring extraordinary places, a short film called Submerged, and more music-related content.

Ah, my five minutes a month content for my 4000€ device … Thanks, Apple!

Of course, everyone would like to have more content from Apple because the 3D video on YouTube that is made for game goggles is dreadful. The stuff Apple has produced has been simply stunning. The Submerged short movie is so powerful it can evoke very strong emotions.

In the meantime, get yourself Spatial Media Toolkit and convert some of your own video. You will be amazed at how much life it brings to your flat, old stuff. The better the quality the initial video, the better your 3D version will be.

To be honest, Meta has released some content for Quest headsets that I would argue does more to push the "immersiveness" of the format than Apple's efforts.

Like:

Shot in 360 3D, an hour long, and is quite the spectacle to watch.

These short clips from a trillion dollar company show how ridiculous unrealistic it is to expect full length sports events in VR in our lifetime

The masters was in vr on meta quest in 2016. Looked great.

And the premier league and cricket were great too (again on oculus/meta) in vr in 2020

Incredible how stagnant Vision Pro content has been.

There is more immersive content on the VP than I have time to watch, just not from Apple. That's not including my content which I can watch in an App that converts it to 3D. More is released almost daily.

This may be my favorite Apple release. Only one uncomfortable closeup inches from his face. It is as much a travel video about Iceland as it is a story about his swim.

That looks cool. I don't have access to it on AVP that I know of. What I do have access to on YouTube just does not look at all like Apple Immersive video. It isn't just the difference between amateur vs. professional, though that plays big part. There's also a real difference between seeing cool 3D 180º or 360º video and the Apple Immersive quality which makes you feel like you are absolutely there.

Incredible how stagnant Vision Pro content has been. A year ago there were all these wild promises and nothing happened. Why doesn’t Apple pay creative developers to make awesome apps??

Curious, do you think MacRumors is covering 100% of what's available in the Vision ecosystem? For every app covered here, there's probably 8 or 9 not covered.

So, I'm wondering if these same haters for the Vision Pro are the same people or perhaps the children of the people who said the same things about the original Mac? (I'm old enough to have been the owner of the original Mac, which adjusted for inflation, cost the same as TWO Vision Pros) Or what about the iPod? Or the iPhone? or the Apple Watch? Every single person I've let try my Vision Pro is blown away by what it does. The main issues, price and content will be addressed over the next 5 years. In the mean time, I'm so happy that I am able to use mine rather than Apple deciding they were going to wait 3 years until they could sell the first version cheaper. My one neighbor openly admits he spends well over the cost of a Vison Pro on alcohol every year. My other neighbor reluctantly admitted she spends far more than a Vision Pro every year buying her morning StarBucks and eating lunch out every day. I spend $0 on either of those luxuries. We all have our priorities for how we spend our money. Have any of the VP haters actually tried out the ultra wide virtual display with a MacBook? I'm guessing not. The latest immersive video about ice diving really shows the progress they are making in figuring out what works best with this new video format. After watching video this way, going back to 2D video is like going from watching regular TV to listening to a show over the radio.

So they went to Arctic to film such a lifeless, boring and tired trailer for something designed to be watched in 360°? MEH! I had seen people with old GoPros making better content than these guys. Do they even know how to color grade? If camera gives lifeless colors you gotta saturate manually. And also this generic music to make it “drama-like” or “tragic”
