Not that I would use this much but this is a no-go for me so far. I updated iCloud for Windows and can't enable iCloud Photo. When I click the box next to Photo, I get a black square and it never enables. Drive and Bookmarks work fine so I will keep using those but Photo Library is a no. (so far and not sure what to check)

If you use Office 2016, you will not get it to install properly as Apple forgot all about making it compatible again (even though they had all code well before the launch of Office 2016 and the release of iCloud 5).

It seems to many of us who use both products this was intentionally done by Apple. You can now go back and revert to Office 2013 so it will work. Apple kept refusing to fix or say anything about it, so MS stood up for end users allowing them to revert until Apple does its job. If they don't, there is no doubt they will lose millions of customers. Many like me who love IOS, yet hate OSX, just as I love Windows for PC but hate their mobile phones and apps. There is zero reason with today's tech ability for them not to work, it's just THAT stupid!

Hard to believe but there are iPhone/iPad users who use Windows too.

Why is that hard to believe?

I have mostly Mac hardware, but Windows 8.1 and 10 are just as good if not better than OS X in my opinion.

Lack of support for Outlook 2016 is really annoying. Not being able to sync contacts and calendars is a PITA.

I don't understand why there isn't a standard for calendar and contacts sync like IMAP is for email...

This is by no means even close to the experience one gets with a Mac. All it does it downloads the full versions of photos starting from the date you install it. There is an option to download your library (all or by year) to bring it up to date. At least can pick another drive for the downloads. I haven't got it to upload a photo yet but maybe because it's busy downloading photos. - edit I uploaded both a manual upload and also placing picture in uploads folder.

It also does sync like for example if you delete a photo in Windows it won't delete on iCloud. Seems like a one way thing.

I had this and I had to uninstall iCloud reboot the reinstall as reboot. Works now.

I am not sure why someone is surprised that iPhone/iPad users use Windows. If anything i am guessing iPhones/iPads outsell Macs like 10-20:1 depending on the quarter. If we reverse this ratio, for every iPhone/iPad/Mac user there is like 9-18 iPhone/iPad/Windows users.

Is it just me that wishes that Apple would fix things for us mac users before trying to woo windows users. It does not seem that important compared to the fact that iCould sucks.

I think it's just you. More than 80% of iPhone users use PCs, so, while they aren't, they should be apples higher priority.

It is ridiculous that Apple doesn't have an app for windows computers that synchronizes to the iCloud photo library.

"Woo Windows users"? Man they are just now getting around to working on stuff for Windows 5! Windows 10 is out now. ;)

I keep receiving the error, "Errors occurred while installing the updates. If the problem persists, choose Tools> Download Only and try installing manually."

I am running Windows 10 Pro 64 bit with Office 2016. I assume I'm receiving this error because I have Office 2016 installed. Hopefully 2016 support follows.

Duhhhh!!!!

Didn't you read the title???? This is only for Windows 5.... LOL

Sorry i had to :D

This is stupid. The photo sync is not automatic. You have to click download in icloud app or in explorer which will download to a downloads folder. Changes here are not reflected on icloud. So if you need to delete a photo you have to go to icloud.com and delete it there. Then delete from your downloads folder too. To upload you have to copy and image to upload folder and click upload.

Very smooth . When downloading there is no progress bar and there are delays. So if it stops downloading that doesn't necessarily mean it's done. It could start up later again and download now photos

I have the same problem as well. But my photo sync is automatic. I have the "Upload to my Photo Stream" option enabled on my iPhone app which allows syncing of new photos from my phone to my Windows 10 computer.

But as you said, it doesnt sync from computer to iPhone (unless it does in 30 days? which it says it might in the support page iCloud), so if i delete a photo from my computer it doesnt remove it from my photos app.

Uh, iCloud for Windows? I remember it does not support Windows Server.
And seems that iCloud photo library is not so useful.
Plus I keep mail synced separately using Outlook 2016.

Oh, I am a Mac+Windows user.

After thinking about it I sort of prefer the way it's done now on Windows. I wouldn't want windows to have automatic sync therefore giving it ability to delete or modify all of my photos in iCloud Photo Library - imagine a cryptolocker variant which does this?

So you think, Apple should port Photos (Photos.app) to Windows? Or dumb down iCloud Photo Library to simple sync of folders of photos so it could be synced with a simple set of folders on Windows? Like Dropbox and Google Photos work?

If you want to be compatible with as much as possible, you have reduce functionality to the lowest common denominator.
