I was hoping that this term for hosted services called "cloud" was going to die off. I am a bit suprised that Apple is going with it. I guess that many people recognize it and know what it is.

So I guess you've read nothing about it up to this point? Go scan the Macrumors news stories for the last week. Plenty of info in there.

I have been reading, Ive read only purchased itunes songs will be available on icloud, which is roughly 5% of itunes libraries, you can use dropbox to stream music no matter where you got it from! as an example!
My hope is this a subscription deal, say £10 a month stream any song you want, a bit like spotify, if not I dont think many will use or pay for it, looking forward to Monday though and some news on ios5

Well, music is just one small part of what iCould will do.

I don't plan on using the music feature much at all but I'm excited about all the other stuff.

So it's the Mobileme cloud but with a silver lining?

I guess this makes sense.. What can you really do with an "icloud" icon.. Why do we even care as long as it isn't too unsightly.

To be honest, people never really like the icon upon release, remember the fuss about the iTunes icon change. We will all get used to it, at the end of the day, its only an icon. :)

Tying in the iSync and iDisk icons is pretty smart. Reminds me of when the Dashcode icon had the dashboard logo on top of the Xcode blueprint. Stunning piece of work.

If there are new notification this would be ok, but it would be shame if the new thing is only the iCloud Service...

So will an iCloud iOS app replace the iDisk app that has a look-a-like iCon?

Good point, but the iwork-app updates from yesterday still showing the iDisk symbol for uploading your documents... So this would mean another update as soon as icloud is online or the iDisk is still a part of it.

I did raise an interested eyebrow when I clocked the "5" for iOS 5 but on the tile used for iOS 4 (with the teal tint and water/bubbles).
