Can someone explain why to use this stuff of iCloud connection if you use IMAP/SMTP-accounts?

There happened always stupid events as forgetting password etc. – that's why I switch off this iCloud Mail function in every new device since many years – no troubles at all.

I use iCloud+ email for my domain. It works very well, most of the time.

While email seems to now be working, I still have email from during the outage where the email was delivered during that outage timeframe, I can see who the email is From and the Subject, but the contents of the email are still missing.

I have no idea if the contents of the email are lost forever, or if somehow it will be repopulated? Very frustrating.

10:00am here in New Mexico, MST.
I did a rebuild of the mailbox and it seems to have fixed the problems.
