Several iCloud services are experiencing issues, according to Apple's system status page.

Find My, Game Center, Photos, iCloud Calendar, iCloud Mail, iCloud Contacts, iCloud Web Apps, and iWork for iCloud are all experiencing service interruptions.

Apple says only some users may run into problems. The issue started at 3:33 p.m. Eastern Time and is ongoing.

The figures follow Apple's admission during last month's earnings call that regulatory changes have started to weigh on its Services growth. Apple reported services revenue of $30.7 billion for the June quarter, a record for the period but short of the $31.4 billion that analysts expected.


Apple might need to start injecting ads into every app beyond News, Maps, and App Store to make up for the revenue shortfall. $30.7 billion for the June quarter clearly wasn't enough.

"self host" can mean a lot of things to varying degrees. Not OP but start with a NAS. That's basically what most of these cloud providers are, in the end. A NAS and Tailscale is a good place to start. But you still need power, internet, storage, hardware, climate control, physical space, etc.

Music is a mess. Not intuitive at all and now when looking at my wishlist it scrolls to the right but then stops and there are still songs there that I can't see. Making the window bigger didn't help.
Apple software has been really disappointing since Cook took over

Could you say more about how you self host?

Sure! I use Immich for photos, navidrome for my music backend with a library of almost 100,000 songs (all analyzed locally by audiomuse AI for playlist and song radio creation), nextcloud for contacts, calendar, notes and documents/files. And then it’s all tied together with a couple other back end applications, most of which run in Docker, and all of it is available from my own domain name that points at my local IP on a Mac that runs in my office, 24/7.

100% up time is fantasy and realistically not technically achievable. There's so many points of failure, no matter how much redundancy you buy/implement, there will always be a failure point.

I have noticed several people recommending Immich for photos. I am looking at that now. I am familiar with what Nextcloud provides.
