I have been unable to use any online services (apps, YouTube, web browsing) for two days now with Private Relay turned on. Really crazy.

I'm still having issues with this. I've been getting notifications back and forth all morning of it being turned back on. Still not working in safari for me intermittently.

Nope, me to.
Turned it of for one day (auto) hoping it will be on tomorrow.

Encountering this on my iPhone. Switching over to cellular seems to eliminate the issue. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Definitely still an issue this morning for Safari on my iPhone. I turned off Private Relay and it seems to be working fine.

Interestingly, when I was having issues last night, my son, who was standing two feet away from me, was not experiencing the same problems. That was also true with coworkers throughout the day yesterday.

In a "serious professional" system, rebalancing the servers is transparent to the clients! They don't need to reboot to get the new routing.

You should stop defending them...
you missed the irony in it. visit the apple server website for fun. apple is not in the server business for a reason. we old folks know that, and this is the place to make fun of a tech giant, that cannot see its own feet anymore…

Load Balancing is in Art of its own, those server guys get real big bucks to enable the best performance per Invested $ And because apple is renting servers from g and m and also a they often miss the point of being as sharp, whenever a competitor configures the scripts.

apple is getting too fat and therefore arrogant, but the Ceo is wearing a face device every day, every day… 🫣

i guess you know by now, we are on the same side.
but maybe i reduce the understatement a little bit.

Ok private relay is back this am. I had to reboot my iPhone for that to show as back. On MacBook Pro though error was still there after reboot but turning private relay off and back on fixed the error there. Now seems to be back. While the problem was there however I was having no problem accessing YouTube and other sites that folks here are having problems accessing, Health app was fine on my devices ect. Just was not gettting private relay and its “protection” but as I mentioned earlier with beta 4 iPadOS 18 all I had to do was turn the ip address limiting in Wifi and private relay was working on my iPad Pro where I spend lots of time during day so at least there I apparently had the protections of private relay

Since this morning I've been getting this message on Mac Mail… since I haven't changed anything in my settings I hope that this private relay outage might be to blame.

That is odd considering Private Relay only applies to Safari. Internet traffic from all other apps do not/cannot use Private Relay. Are you sure something isn't acting up with your router or ISP?

This is still happening on my iPhone as of this morning. My Macs and iPad never had the issue.

Glad to see this report. I thought it was just me. I've had to turn it off for now for my web browsers to work consistently on both my Mac and iDevices.

This morning around 11AM PST, I was having trouble loading remote content in Mail but it eventually resolved... sometime around 11:45 AM or so.
Glad I found this thread. All the settings on my computer seemed to be in order but could not load remote content privately. The Apple System Status page shows issues with iCloud Private Relay.

Last night I turned Private relay off, restarted the iPad and switched to on again
It worked not very fast but no more notices that it was off. Today it’s fast again

I was wondering when I was checking my personal email a little big ago why it wasn’t loading content. I hard reset my phone and that solved it for me. I thought a setting was changed inadvertently.

Nope I got the same odd message. No confusion.
I just got this message on my Mac, hadn’t done anything related to it.

I wonder if it’s pulling the wrong notification of “return in 24h” instead of “when available again”.

My Mac fixed itself while sleeping and not connected to the internet. It announced that Private Relay was working again the moment I opened the lid and before connecting to a network. This indicates to me that this was a time sensitive bug of sorts that was pushed out to machines and not a network condition at all. Sonoma 14.5.

I had search issues on my iPhone Wednesday afternoon, which I thought was my wi-fi router. This morning however, my iPhone was fine, but my Mac had the iCloud Relay alert. I restarted and it seems fine now.
