oh man... looks like entering a fog.

Lets see how many transparency can we have.. ?

Makes ya wonder they should of done this in OS X 9 all over :p People would really love that too.

I don't mind transparency, just as long as its not over-done, and this is clearly, overdone. But just like Apple, when they want to do somethig, they need to go big on it.

Why not change Mavericks accordingly? I mean, iCloud.com was using the OS X user interface, it would only be a matter of consistency to adopt the design for the Maverick apps like Mail, Calendars etc. - way to many skeuomorphism also in the OS X world if you ask me.

Yellow on White: do Apple designers have any common sense?

Answer: No.

They use that on the iPhone now too. I can't read my notes! They force dynamic links on anything you type dealing with a date, email, or website, and then put those links in YELLOW on WHITE! Can't turn it off.

Would it be so hard for Apple to offer a choice of fonts? A choice of highlight colors? A choice at all? I personally don't like J.I.'s style and yet hundreds of millions of owners of iOS devices will have to use that style or another brand.

Why is this progress? Apple OSes from the 90s had a choice of fonts for the OS, choice of colors. Now, 20 years on with 100 times the customer base, we aren't allowed to choose a thing?

What an iSORE!!! The colors are wayyy too bright, fonts aren't very readable, and the icons just disappear.

Definitely a downgrade!

If this is the iOS 7 experience, I WON'T be upgrading. Its the most counter intuitive, non-userfriendly, least thought out Apple GUI to date.

Flat design needs to go the way of the dodo and just disappear.

That would be the last straw to break. I'd leave them Mac platform for good.

The iOS 7 design is a disaster and goes against everything Apple. Jony needs to stick to hardware. Forstall needs to be brought back ASAP!

This is "not like my parent's did it-itis" at it's finest. Every generation has to disavow what came before it as old, not right, etc.

Thing is, that means you don't learn from history.

Drop shadows may be old fashioned, but drop shadows exist for a reason. They make the item stand out from the background. They create a localized point of contrast, and combined with a thin outline, can make fonts much more readable. iOS7/Mavericks fonts are going to be far less readable...

They probably will. There haven't been many changes in the latest DPs for Mavericks aside from bug fixes, and with the GM released last week for iOS, and it going public today, now the OS X team members which went to help on iOS are coming back to the OS X side of things, just in time for them to help apply the new themes/icons into OS X before it goes GM. As far as I can see, other than some bugs and iBooks needing a lot of work, Mavericks is just about finished. iOS is finished, iCloud has just been cleaned up. I can't see them not doing it for Mavericks, but let's see if we start seeing changes in DP9.

I love how Apple is making everything go together. Now all they need to do is redesign OSX to look more like iOS 7.

Also, I don't know how many of you noticed, but the wallpaper follows your mouse. It's very subtle and I thought I was just imagining it at first, but it's real! Not that important, but just another cool tiny tweak.

It will be a great day when OS X and iOS merge into one. A great day.

Oh God! Like Windows 8 with less functionality. I can't wait for that day. If it does I only hope "Windows X" is any good, or all the main music production and professional software is available on Linux. No, leave OS X being simplified to uselessness out of this! :(

Ye of little faith. Windows is a mess because Microsoft is a mess. Apple isn't a mess and knows how to produce the most simple and effective ways of doing thing. If they could entirely rebuild iOS from the ground up to make 7 in less than 10 months. They could merge iOS and OS X no problem. And it'd be great.
