here is one i use

Could someone make this Gmail icon the right size? I put it as my Mail icon, and it's bigger than the rest of the icons on my dock for some reason. I thought it was just me, but I took a screen shot and zoomed in, lining them up at the bottom of the screen, and this one is definitely taller...

I'm honestly not trying to be smart alek here but do all of you not have microsoft paint or paint.net? its very easy to resize if you do.

Tried that, did not work... it added a white border around the image (where it should be transparent).

hi guys, hoping someone here can help...

I went through and saved a bunch of the icons (thanks btw) but im having a hard time transferring these to my phone...

I have an iPhone 3Gs and am using WinSCP.

Ok, now when I ssh into the phone, and navigate to the proper apps, i can find the icon.png, but if i select it and hit copy to desktop, it copies but comes up as a red 'x' when i try to open it:

as another problem, if i just add the icon i want into the folder, and then rename it to icon.png, it gives me an error message:

now im not sure if this is the place to get help, but figured since it was the thread about icons i'd give it a shot.

thanks guys!
Apple "optimizes" their images on the iPhone which also means they are unviewable on a pc/mac unless modified back to a normal png image.
An easy way is to use iFile. Save image to camera roll through iFile. iFile will make the image (png) into a "normal" png when saving it.
Then use SSH, and navigate to the camera roll:
/var/mobile/Media/DCIM/100APPLE/
Grab the image from here and it will be viewable on a pc/mac.

As for your second issue, name your icon correctly before dropping it in via SSH and let it overwrite the existing icon.png. Make sure to keep a backup of the original if you need.

Here is the icon with 118x120px canvas for default apps. The image was at an odd size of 118x118 thats why it looked a little stretched vertically.

Thanks, that did the trick!

What's with all the different icon sizes anyway?? Shouldn't they all just be one standard size? I don't get it

Since iOS 4.0, sizes are :

Apple system apps and cydia 118x120
App store apps 114x114

Most themes will give you two different templates for the icons now. Lots of confusion, lol.

im still new to this stuff

is it possible to change any of my icons, if im not using a theme? im just using the default "theme" that was with the phone if im saying it right.

What I described was a way to view the icon or any iPhone image on your pc. You can easily just SSH like you previously did with the icon and back it up to your pc, it will be unviewable but can still be used as a backup . You can view it when you put it back on the phone.

Without Winterboard, you would have to SSH into each app's folder and replace the icon manually. Also if an Appstore app got updated it would revert back to original icon. The Winterboard method is much easier.
Are all these icons for jailbroken iPhones?
Yes, have to be jailbroken to modify images.

what theme would you suggest i use? is there a theme that looks just like the default, because im not into all that flashy ****.

Does anyone have the original "photos" icon without the stock glare? I have no glare on all my icons, and like the stock one, so I don't want a complete replacement.

Thanks!

why do you need them with the border cut off? iOS automatically rounds them
