Can anyone modify this icon?

I found a cool Netflix icon, but my limited resources are not allowing me to round the edges. Any help?

why is it all the icons i download from this thread are way too big and then when i resize them to to correct size 72x72??? they will end up having a white square boarder around them, what am i doing wrong please help :(

Can't help you on a fix for the white border as I've never seen it, but all of these icons are sized for the iphone 4 retina screen, and I'm guessing that's not what you have. The 3G and 3GS use smaller icons, from what I understand (57x57, I think? Someone correct me on that.), and the ipad uses a third size altogether, the 72x72 I believe you mentioned. You are best off finding icons that fit your actual screen resolution, as resizing can produce artifacts like the white border you're experiencing.

If your heart is set on using these, a Google search or a search of the Homescreen threads should give you some specific tools that make resizing icons from ip4 size to other sizes easier. I know there are tools out there that do that task and only that task, I've seen them mentioned. But, as I've not had to use them, I can't give you more than the general direction to search.

Good luck!

I do have iphone 4 though, and i have been downloading them right from here, but it is huge! if i dont resize it, i have been opening SSH, enabling it. i have a folder on my home page and it is named My Icons, a folder is inside that named Icons, there i have the ones im trying to change just saved as PNG's. with the correct name of course, Phone, Photos, etc i then simply drag the entire folder (My Icons) into Themes.YbrKwU, wich is inside Stash.

is this not the right process?

Edit: so i looked to see what size these are being downloaded onto my computer at and its 120x120, what is the reason for this? this is why they are so huge and must be resized im guessing. so right clicking and saving isnt how im suppose to do this? so lost at the moment :(

It sounds like you're attempting to use the "icons method" that used to be used all the time with Winterboard. It doesn't work very well with iOS 4 and above. The icons method can produce issues like those you mention.

Here's more info on the "bundles method", which most themes nowadays use. It's more work to start, but once you get going with it, you'll find it's more effective. There's more information on it earlier in this thread, and a google search will bring up plenty more.

http://joshcalvetti.tumblr.com/post/905296173/winterboard-on-ios-4-x

If you insist on continuing to use the icons method, you need to have Summerboard enabled in the Winterboard app, and you need TWO copies of each icon in the icon folder. One named appname.png and one named appname@2x.png, where "appname" is the name as shown EXACTLY on the springboard under the app, including capitals and any punctuation. DON'T rescale the icons, just put them in the folder as is with two copies of each and the correct names.

Even using that though, not everything will show correctly and it's my understanding that Summerboard can slow everything down a bit. But without two copies of each icon, correctly labeled and with the 2x.png one at the correct size, Winterboard is trying to rescale your icons and I suspect that's where your problems are coming from.

The 120x120 is the size they should be. It's your method of adding them to the phone and using them in Winterboard at issue, not the icons themselves.

OK sounds about right, I will give that a look and see what happens and hope for the best, I appreciate the help.

OK, I gave it a shot and did a ton of googling, I cant find anywhere that actually expolains really what to do, wether i should be using WinSCP, and to respring after and anything else like that, just simple things that i should know but dont. I googled for things like, changing app icons using bundle method and such, looked on youtube. I couldnt find squat for a tutorial. somone should already have a step by step site written up you would think? im lost more now then i was before, how can changing an icon be so hard!?

any websites that give step by step directions would be appreciated, thank you. sorry i know so little

Try the icons method first I described above with two copies then. That's going to be faster in the short term, and for just a few icons, it's not that hard or that big a deal performance-wise. Try it with just one icon first--one icon, with two correctly named copies. Let's see if that works.

As for the bundles method, I've not seen a step by step for it, or really for much else in theming. The general consensus--as with so many things re: jailbreaking--is to learn by seeing what others have done: that the best way to learn it is to download another theme from Cydia and see how that's been put together. I believe a theme that was good for such things was mentioned earlier in this thread; in my case, I downloaded a couple from MacThemes and went at it from there, learning as I went.

I hot one to work so far haha, would Game Center have a space still? That one wouldn't work for me.

I think there's a special way of doing Game Center--and as the icons method far predates that function in iOS, I'm betting it doesn't work with that app icon. But as I don't use GC, it's shoved in a folder deep down in the depths of my phone and I've never tried to theme it. LOL Hopefully someone else knows.

Glad to hear you got one to work though! As I said, the Icons method doesn't always work. But hopefully you can use it to get a few of them themed to hold you over while you work out how to use bundles.

As Vixen had stated, forget the "icon method" and use the bundles method instead. Once you get used to the bundles method, it'll make things a lot easier in the long run. Again, little bit more work up front but well worth it.

The GameCenter icon shouldn't have a border around it at all. Gamecenter should be com.apple.gamecenter with the icon named icon@2x.png

I've been using the icons folder method. Make sure Summerboard mode is ON in Winterboard. I have no problems theming my icons using the icons folder method. Actually find it less cumbersome. I do use the Bundles method where the bundles folders were readymade :p

Also make sure the sizes are correct. 114x114 for AppStore icons and 118x120 for cydia and system app icons. A lot of icons posted in this thread are the wrong size.

I would disagree with this last statement (in bold), as I've encountered zero issues with any icons I've pulled from here...but I used them with the bundle method, which is what most of them were designed for. If you go back and look at the themes they originate from, you'll find that they use bundles, not the icons folder setup.

I agree the icon method is less cumbersome by a long shot. Bundles are a PITA. But since almost all theme designers are going the bundles route at this point, I think it does make a lot of sense to learn how to use it. And I do notice a difference in the "snappy" feel of my phone when Summerboard is turned on versus when it isn't. As I get heavier into theming, that just isn't acceptable to me, so I'm working on getting the last of the Summerboard based stuff off my phone.

Appstore icons sized 118x120 are on this thread. That is the wrong size :D Even holl3r noted this earlier.

The size of the icon has nothing to do with using Bundles or Icons folder method.

Appstore icons should be sized 114x114
Cydia and System default app icons should be 118x120

Several themers have provided separate templates for 114x114 and 118x120 size icons. Now, if you are talking about the way the icons are masked using the Bundles method, then it may true that size does not matter. But if you are talking about completed icons, that dont need a mask to be correct, then the above sizes are what is needed.

And FYI, when I use correctly sized icons and have Summerboard On, Icons folder method works perfectly for me. But I do use "readymade" Bundles when they are provided :)

Also most folks cannot tell if their icons are "off" slightly by a few pixels, to the naked eye, seeing them on the iPhone, the icons look fine even if they may be the wrong size ;)

Here's one I made for Football Manager 2011, to fit with the upojenie HD theme.

Hey there, do you think you could do the same thing with this icon?

If at all possible, can you make the border purple to match the icon? Working with PSD's is not my forte unfortunately :(

Does anyone have any cool MyWi icons, I'll take anything, but something in blue would be much appreciated. Also, any green calendar icons as well. TIA.
