where's a good place to find icons? interfaceLift is dead.
what other customization do you use?

This shows some screencaps from when I was using my G4, but I use the same customizations on all of my Macs that support them: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/black-mac-os-x.1709883/#post-18804743

Black Mac OS X, explanations in that thread.

On my Quad G5: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/post-your-theme-powerpc.2047082/#post-24606683

Below is an older screen cap of my 17" PowerBook G4. Once I find things the way I like them I tend to leave them so what you see here is what you'd see if I screencapped the Mac right now.

The same them applied on my 17" PowerBook: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/post-your-theme-powerpc.2047082/#post-24614774

Deviant Art is a great place to get customizations and icons.

thanks. I have some stuff on my PM G4 that I can't get to. Its been awhile since I have customized the OS Tiger and Leopard versions.

What file does CandyBar use for the icons? I've tried to change some with an icon set and it doesn't work. Also is there another way to change the system icons like Hard Drives without out CandyBar? I'm trying this in Leopard.

Candybar uses its own proprietary .icontainer format.

You could individually copy and paste icons onto your hard drives/volumes via the File > Get Info window in the Finder. Click on the icon in the info window to highlight then copy/paste.

I was having some problems with an icon set which didn't work either using candy bar or changing the picture in the info window. I did eventually found a nice set that worked. It is a shame interfaceLIFT does not work as they seem to have a good variety of sets to choose from.

The problem is that Apple has moved on in later version of OS X.

They have made it much more difficult to modify system resources and so at a certain point, the people who used to do this just gave up. When you're doing it as a hobby or for free you have to calculate just how much effort you're willing to spend to break through that wall of resistance. Ultimately, it just wasn't worth it.

would that lead to it getting difficult to find things for Customization? It seems I'm having a difficult time with icons now than I did when I first joined was able to customize more.

Anyone know how to modify the login box? I can easily change the background in Leopard and Tiger but was wondering if I make the box transparent or something so I can see the whole background picture since it covers up some spots.
