With this very real problem, and many writing Apple about this problem...doesn't seem more than strange that they won't even comment on the issue? There is no talk of a fix or that there even IS a problem with 7.0. Come on Steve...step to the plate and deliver. Where's 10.5.2?
I'm very disappointed. This is my first mac in 25 years. On the whole, I love my MBP, but this software is buggy. It does lock up, and the spinning beach ball is something I have come to hate.

could not agree more, ridiclous than a multi billion company can't get this fixed within 3 months after realese of buggy software, I'm a huge appefan, but this put's them to shame, grrrr....

iDVD crashes upon opening it. I have to force quit.

I bought my Macbook last November and have the Blackbook...SR2.2. I really want to use the themes... :( I thought Apple software is suppose to be better than Windows stuff?

possible solution down the pike

At the end of a LONG process of putting together a DVD in iMovie and iDVD '08 I found as others have that it would not burn on my Macbook Pro Core 2 2.2. I spent two days trouble shooting with AppleCare before seeing on various forums that it's basically impossible. It would have been nice if Apple had informed their users -- then i would have spent that LONG time on another program. It would have been nice if Apple informed their techs of the issue -- so we wouldn't have wasted many more hours with pointless toruble shooting.

Bottom line:

1. When they finally admitted to the problem they told me there will be an update to either iDVD or Leopard that will solve this issue in about two weeks.

2. Apple is as sloppy as PC companies are.

3. wish I;d saved $1,000, stayed PC and learned AVID instead of getting trapped in Apple Final Cut.

short term solution

One other thing. If anyone is in my position, already have a file, can't burn it, get it onto another non Macbook Pro mac and burn. You can't save a disc image -- but you can take the whole iDVD file and put it on another computer. there may be a permissions issue -- easy way around it is to set up an identity on the transfer computer, use the identical name and password on the computer you edited on and transfer the file using the original computer as a drive for the transfer (connect by Firewire, boot while pressing "T").

Won't go that far

As angry as I am about the glitches in Leopard, I do have to take into account it is in pretty good shape, considering it is the first addition out of the chute. There probably should have been more time taken before releasing Leopard, but, when I consider the friggin updates that occur on my desktop pc, I won't even go there. My MBP is the best thing since sliced cheese. No piece of equipment as complicated as a computer is infalliable. I would guess, within a couple weeks, we beta testers will get the fix we have been waiting for, and Leopard will perform just like Tiger. My son's a graphic designer, and he swears by Macs and his Tiger ran perfect. So...we need to be a little more patient, and in time...all will be good in Mac land.:)

How far to get info?

I do wonder how I'll actually find out when there is a patch for this issue.

Especially since it took me two days on the phone with AppleCare to finally have a higher up admit there was a problem rather than having me spin wheels with pointless efforts to fix the problem. And at that, they may never have admitted it if I hadn't seen the issue discussed on forums.

I left PC to avoid this mess.

I';m stuck with a DVD that my client likes. I've had to take four trips to a friend to burn each time I have a change. '08 wont run on a G4 Macbook I have at my disposal.

The commute time gave me the necessary time to write a commercial about the wonders of mac simplicity. I'll post a link when I get it on Youtube.

iDVD and Leopard Incompatability

I have a 2.0 Gz Duo Core iMac with ample ram, Leopard, all the updates possible from Apple. I have even visited The Apple Store twice about this problem and no one seems to care that iDVD 6.0.4, despite being billed by Apple as compatible with Leopard, won't work!!??? Glad to know it's not my computer and rather my mistake in trusting Apple (yet again). Leopard's fabulous? Not! Really disappointed and angry.

iDVD crashes on Macbook pro (with Leopard)

Hi,

I have the same problem with a new MBP, pre-installed Leopard and all 7.0 themes. I have found a work around, which works 90% of the time on all other themes (5.0, 6.0 and older themes):

1. After creating your project, save it, close it and quit iDVD
2. Open Finder, and go to your profile/Library/Preferences and delete the file com.apple.iDVD.plist.
3. Empty the trash
4. Reboot
5. Start iDVD and load your project.
6. Just press burn without any previewing etc.
7. Cross your fingers :)

Revolution Theme 07

Does anyone know if Apple is planning to address this very significant issue? I mean, they bothered to release 10.5.2 and today there was a small iLife 08 release.

Problem Solved

After MANY headaches with a core 2 Macbook Pro and iDVD '08 -- the problem is solved. Update 10.5.2 - then, after the 10.5.2 update, do the Leopard graphics update -- problems are solved.

Even after 10.5.2, the graphics update that comes along with it, and the most recent iLife update. The furthest I can get to is previewing themes. I can't save or even hit the Burn button without having iDVD mysteriously close on me with no error report after that. It's as though the Save and Burn buttons were mapped to the close button itself.

Macbook 2.2GHz stock (soon to be 4GB)

It's FIXED!

Well, it appears that the Revolution Theme is fixed. I wonder why Apple didn't wait to release Leopard. I mean, Tiger apparently was working just fine. Vista is worthless. By waiting, they would have come out with the product all users of Apple expect. All the hostility and anger vented at Jobs et all would have been a non issue.

After these updates, still no luck with iDVD on my MB in sig.
