sans |sanz|
preposition poetic/literary, humorous
without : flavorful vegetarian dishes sans meat, eggs, or milk.
ORIGIN Middle English : from Old French sanz, from a variant of Latin sine ‘without,’ influenced by Latin absentia ‘in the absence of.’

Trying to be funny at my expense?

I know what sans means. In the typography world (where I'm from) Sans Serif fonts are fonts without serifs. It was not a dig toward you. I was basically agreeing with you.

I never said it was fact. I said that it looks stupid. You obviously have different tastes than me. You like the cluttered low contrast look and I like simple.

Yes, it's your device and YOU have to use it... that doesn't mean I have to agree with what you like to look at.

Lemme change my statement then. "I think it looks stupid". The icons aren't bad but that background is way too busy to have similar colored icons on top of it. You need more contrast between the background and the icons to make the icons look clearer.

I'm not sure what they taught you in graphic design school, but that home screen looks retarded.

Retarded? So this has degraded to insults already has it? Very mature, I shouldn't have expected more going by your track record I suppose. As I said, it's all your oppinion. Mine is that a home screen does not have to look cluttered with a back ground image if apple make some minor changes, adjust the text (label it or drop shadow), shrink the icons a little, and allow for user placement of icons. If you don't like my example then fine, but "stupid", "retarded" and questioning my artistic skills while making out like you've won graphic designer of the year award have quite the negative effect on your posts.

I didn't insult you. I said the background looks retarded... not you. What exactly do you know about user interface design?

maybe it will look like this...

agreed

Can't commit on CPU cycles... but the reflective apps, the dock, and live weather app only seem to take up about 8mb of ram.

If you notice up on top next to the clock the available ram is listed, after a restart it sits at about 157mb, with out winterboard installed it use to be right around 165mb...

glad you like it though :)

I think we will see the option to set backgrounds on the home screen, similar to iPad. I actually think that Apple will bring a lot of refinements found in iPad UI to iPhone 4.0.

I don't think so. You are the one all mad and worked up about someone refuting a claim to you. Deal with it like a grown man/kid. Your comment was insensitive to the person who made it and thus serves no purpose of being.

Your following posts are just spam trying to justify your insults.

I don't care anymore. I just don't like you. Thanks for the image again.

I have every right in the world to say if something looks stupid. I don't care how it looks to the other person. To me, it looks stupid and that's that. I don't care if he's insulted by my claim.

Why don't you grow up instead of posting those retarded photos. The best way to handle me is to not direct your posts at me or about me.

Simple as that.

maybe it will look like this...

Too much of the glass-table effect. The Dock doesn't look too bad, but I wouldn't put so many reflections on the rest of the icons. I couldn't see Apple ever doing that.

I would think from the main home screen we'll be able to slide up or down for some new additions to the OS just like they added slide left for spotlight.

I really hope we have some changes to notification system and homescreen/lockscreen.

I can see that happening.

here is a novel idea, which I've stated about 7 times on this forum... silence the critics, make money, promote customization and individualize the iPhone by.................

ADDING THEMES TO THE APP STORE!!!!

Jailbroken phones are sick and individualized from the ground up.. it just needs to be regulated like the app development and they can sell full, partial, lockscrene or whatever themes for like .99c...

Why is this such a forign concept for apple to grasp. Iphones been out for 3 years same icons, same everything... integrate what is already available on over 2-Million Iphones and make money doing it.. SELL THEMES!!!

so don't use an image that makes your phone look cluttered?

tbh though, the only reason it looks cluttered is because the icons are so big. look at android, that can look great, but that's because the icons are smaller, the text is easy to read against any background, and the icons can be laid out however you want rather than them snapping to how apple wants you to lay it out.

maybe it's just me, but i don't find this to be cluttered:

I don't think it looks cluttered, either. Actually, I quite like that wallpaper! My homescreen is 2 rows of blank icons on top with 2 rows of invisible icons (labels showing) because I want to be able to see the wallpaper. Other screens are all glass orb, which also allows more of the wallpaper to be seen. It's not for everybody, but I love it and it's my eyes that're lookin' at it all the time, so I've got no complaints. :)

TheSpaz, you do have a habit of derailing threads for no point on little things like this. I have noticed this from you quite often unfortunately

You should probably take some of your own advice Spaz:rolleyes:

Yeah, I don't get the point of insulting someone's design choice. I mean, there's nothing wrong with saying, "It's not what I'd choose, but if it works for you, then great!"

He's a designer, he just knows good design better than you ;)

He also has the habit to get worked up over stupid things. I barely am on here, but he really gets annoying.

sounds like you should change the name of this thread to "why do you hate TheSpaz?"

and I didn't say that because I want it to be changed, I'm just saying this thread's topic has taken a turn for the worst

More embarrassing than a Lady Gaga ringtone.
I don't see why this would be embarrassing, and what's wrong with Lady Gaga? :p

Honestly though, I don't think we're going to see much change to the UI. Maybe just additional UI elements to support the new features.

I'm mostly hoping for a better notification UI, the current one is a joke.

What REALLY is there worth changing in the UI? Besides adding multi-tasking and a better notification system, I'm perfectly fine with how everything operates. If you have this need for customization, just jailbreak it and you'll have every option in the world available to you.

Multi-tasking is definitely coming, so that's one down for me. Better notification system is likely, at least I'm hoping, then I just want individual apps improved on like the global mailbox addition, improving the calendar app or whatever, and so on.

Widgets would be nice, would add a great section in the app store as well, but I don't mind doing it myself if I have to. Obviously prefer not to though :p

idk but i would jump for joy if they added themes, like they have people (the developers) develop them and they get sold int the app store they could be free or bought .:D:D:D:D:D:D
