Maybe I´ve gone insane after soooooo many months of Mac Pro update obsession, but I´m convinced Apple Inc. will present Leopard on new updated Mac Pro in October and start shipping them late Oct-early Nov.

If I see nothing by December I will create an "I hate Jobs and Gates blog".

No professionals usually can't just jump into a new OS in the middle of projects and using apps that are not written for 10.5. I think the new Mac Pro will come out before Leopard with a free upgrade. So people have a choice..that has happened before. Then they can still showcase Leopard on the new Mac Pro.

I think you're on the right path. Then again Apple are Apple and anything could happen.

The Mac Pro really needs an update, it's taken way too long for it.

Anyways, I'm happy with mine.

I just feel sorry for all those who have waited. :(

Amen.

I love my Mac Pro. I think it's perfect in every way. To think... I almost waited!! I thought they'd give us an update at MWSF 2007!! :(:confused:

I'm SO glad I bought one in September 2006. Now i've had the latest and greatest, for a whole year! And not a single problem! My family also bought 3 iMac Core Duo's in April 2006, and NO problems! I just LOVE Macs!!!

Meh......

I doubt we'll see anything Mac Pro related on September 5th. I doubt we'll see anything Mac Pro related for a while. Since they decided to "update" it with a $999 RAID card I'm sure someone at Apple thinks that's sufficient.

Time to buy...

That's good to hear... I've been holding off for a bit on buying a new Mac Pro, but I'm now in need of the new machine. My aging, albeit VERY reliable, mirrored door g4 has served it's purpose and been a real trooper.

I was getting ready to order a new box this morning when I read about the Sept 5 announcement... I thought about waiting a few more days, but if it looks like no new Pro's are likely, I'll order a 4core today.

I know something will be coming this year: new enclosure or new chipset or faster speeds, but I guess it all comes down what is available at the time you need it.

Great forums. Long time visitor, first time posting.

Oh come on, join the waiting list for the new MacPro. You know you want to. :D Why pay for something that will double its speed in a 1-2 months? (Hopefully.) By the way people are predicting, I can see a new one coming in October or November. I probably got the same machine as you right now. Try to hold off. But if you can't, ah well. :p

Hehe... I do want to :) Just don't know if I can hold out for another 1-2 months...

The current machines are still very good and will blow away my current Mac by a ton.

Right, it will blow away the current machine. See, I've been waiting since June this year to get one, people thought August was the month. Wrong. So I've been waiting longer. I really think one will come with Leopard. The only reason why I am holding off is that at work here, we have the MacPro 2x2.66 Dual Core 5 gigs memory, I'm use to that machine and want it to be faster. It would cut time in half for me. That and I want a faster computer than the company's. lol

lol.. same here. I was hopeful for August too. I wish my crystal ball was working better... darn thing is on the fritz.

You should just try to hold off til the end of September. And if nothing arrives. Hold off til middle October, still nothing? Wait til the end of October. Nothing then? Wait til November. See 2 months went by real quick. lol I could see some rumors or confirmations coming up by the end of September, beginning of October for a new MacPro.

At least wait 1 week after September 5th, then Apple moves on to there next thing. Maybe some rumors will brew. Cause I get pissed when I buy a new machine and a 2 weeks later something more retarded comes out.

Good point... I've had that happen before. I appreciate your thoughts on this. Thanks.

Next Mac Pros Probably NEED Leopard To Run Optimally

See I hate when that happens. Everyone thinks "Oh, October it comes out, must be the 1st." Nope, have to wait til the last possible day of the month. Guess it really doesn't matter since I'm waiting for the MP update. But still. Hope it ships with the new MP.
My HUNCH is that the 8 core Harpertown Stoakley-Seaburg Mac Pros will NEED Leopard to work optimally so that's why it's likely to not come out until November.
