It would be nice if Apple Turntable is compatible with Apple's Mac Pro Wheels Kit. Courage!

Oh, cool. I was thinking about getting a record player. I have a few albums that have been given to me over the years.

“… $60,000 …”

Never mind!

Ive is super rich thus is totally out of touch with the real world when it comes to 'us and them'. His 'us' is the super rich and wealthy thus $60,000 on turntable would be considered 'modest' when 'us' contains millionaires and billionaires.
Ive was out of touch with reality at Apple when he didn’t have Steve Jobs to pull him back into the real world.

No surprise Apple products started getting better as soon as he left.

Who wants a turn table designed for its looks.? How well does it play vinyl records? THAT is what people care about. Forgetting that products will actually be used is why I think Apple fired Ive.

A classic example of one of his dumb designs is when he arranged all the ports on a MacBook in order of their size. Why not think about cable routing, or how easy the most used ports are to reach?

When I buy a turn table, the LAST thing I want to know is if it has rounded edges and if the material has a soft brushed finish.

Jony did NOT design this turntable.

The headline and the entire article is very misleading and incredibly shoddy journalism.

The only parts that Jony Ive was involved with are the hinges and the switch. The LP-12 is a fifty year old design that he's added a very small part to.
Where is it reported that Ive only worked on the hinges and switch because it is not in the article, I checked on Linn's website and nothing is mentioned there and I checked at the source of the article Fast Company and nothing is mentioned there either.

Specifically “LoveFrom has applied their design expertise to the new, precision-machined power/speed control button and hinges”

I don't see a space for a 45 adapter. Does it have a separate dongle?
Sure for another $50. And the charger will use prongs that flip upward so it just continually falls out of the wall when plugged into a looser-fitting outlet, and they’ll make that design for 20 years without fixing it.

The thread title and the original article are very badly written. They suggest that Jony Ive and his company designed this entire record deck. They did not, if anyone bothers to read the actual source article, you'll see that the only parts they're involved with are the hinge and the switch. Nothing else whatsoever.

The LP-12 is one of the best turntables available in the world, it's been right at the top for many years and is worth every penny (talking about their standard models, not specifically this one). It's clear that the majority of posts in this thread already are being made by people who have never heard of Linn.

This is a prime example, there may be turntables that look like this and cost $200 but they don't sound anything like a Linn.

This limited edition is somewhat more expensive than the normal version.

I'm not sure that Jony designing the hinges and speed switch will make any actual difference to the sound quality though.
What could possibly be in this unit to warrant a 60K price tag? I think that is what most people are balking at. Even with a 90% margin I doubt that the components would cost 6K.
And give people a break. Not everyone is going to go to the main article. The synopsis suggests very strong that Ive's group were responsible for the whole look and feel.

This is the problem. Most of the comments in here are assuming he did the entire thing when in fact it’s a fifty year old product that he’s designed two very small parts for, parts which have zero effect on the performance.
