The other poster mentioned a launch on MWSF '09, but I hear that they're looking at the developer conference in June 09. Frankly, I think that rumor is ridiculous - what do developers have to do with earphones? That's why I think it will be later in the year, for the holiday season of Xmas 09, or immediately after, at MWSF 2010.

In any case, I think it's safest to wait before you buy, at least until MWSF 2010.

It seems odd that they would wait more than a year. Why do people really think that they are going to be delayed this much. Cupertino doesn't have a history of delaying things this late.

Oh, and what's your source :D

Apple as a company seems to be doing fine and they clearly have a market since there are numerous people on these threads that are willing to shell out the money for these earphones, even with the rest of us telling them that they are not the best investment for the price range, delaying for a year seems unexpected.

Actually, for the price, I think they'll be pretty good. I would expect the sound to be better than V-Moda and Bose, maybe better than Shure SE110. Of course they're not going to beat anything higher than that, but they shouldn't be expected to. A huge thing they have going for them is convenience. I'll probably get a pair, even though I know that my Klipsch Custom-2s will be better, because it'd be nice to change the song and volume without taking my iPod out, especially since it rains a lot in Vancouver.

10.5? Push notifications for iPhone? Time Machine support for AirDisk? OS 7.6? The list goes on...

Two Years? I posted above we have seen delays before, most notably Leopard, but, it just seems unlikely that they would put this off for the poster above's predictions.

They have delayed things, but to my recollection never hardware for a period of two years.

Nah people just bash Vista because how crappy it when it is released. Realize that now most of the Vista bashing only comes from the Mac fanboys? Well cause its seem to be something fun to poke MS at.

Anyway, its 1st Dec and where is the earphones!!!, I need it before 15th or my voucher will expire!!!!

Yeah I have a gift card to use for these. Again, still trying to figure out if I can buy a different brand (shure) from the apple store with an apple store gift card.

Sorry, just to clarify, because I tried to answer in the other post. You can definitely purchase third party earphones or any other accessory using your gift card. The only thing I am not sure about is purchasing an iPhone with a gift card, it's my belief that that is a "no-no."

^ Now they have a dedicated gift card for the iPhones.

actually all apple store gift cards say "iphone 3g' on them. It says it can be used to purchase any mac, ipod, or iphone accessory. Fingers crossed for tuesday....for the 8th week in a row.
