You need internet connection or hot spot to stream music..what if when you're in no signal area?...plus, you have to pay each time you stream the song..it's not a good idea to listen to music..
I also have ipod classic..but there are things i complain about the classic ipod..it has no bluetooth..so i couldn't choose a song to play to my multi speaker when i was dinner,at shower, relax on my bathtub,etc..and,it has no built in speaker..

I now stream all my music on my iPhone using Google Play Music All Access.

I never use the built-in pink and white player.

Caching playlists/albums for off-line use is easy. The iPod Touch is really dead in the water at this stage, never mind a 160gb version which will never happen.

How is this a comparism? If you had and android phone the cost would still be the same as the iPhone. Comparing the ipod part of the iPhone to the iPod, cost is the same. You can't add the cost of the cellular part of the iPhone and compare it to a touch. Its apples and oranges.

Agreed. I'll never understand the people who say that they got an iPhone over a Touch because the cost was the same. The total cost is not even close.

I also can't see getting more that 64GB.

You could also do that on a Touch.

Not really, not outside and not wherever I go. Even in the house I use my unlimited data as it's faster than wi-fi.

I don't bother storing music files (except temporarily) on my iPhone as I don't see the point.

Actually you could. You jus don't have a need to personally. Someone else could.

Actually, I'd buy an iPhone 6 with 128GB+ in a heartbeat. :D

I still use a Classic because I have around 80GB of music. Although I thought a bigger Classic would be better for me, the lack of bluetooth and wifi on the Classic is starting to 'age' the device for me. It also would mean I'd still have to carry two devices. It's the only device I still need to keep a dock cable around for and I still need to physically connect it.

I'd much rather buy a iPhone with 128GB and sync over Wifi than to buy another Classic or iPod Touch 128GB ++.

So tell me, how could one stream Google Play Music All Access on an iPod Touch, outside, with no wi-fi connection?

You can't but is it worth the extra money for the times you aren't near wifi ? That's why you have some storage so you can play some music offline.

I'm curious. How much do you pay / year for your unlimited data ?

I've got 300 minutes, unlimited texts and data for £15 a month.

Some months I've used 80-100gbs.

Great deal but obviously not in the USA (I would take that deal in a minute) :D.

Haha yep. I would take that deal too if it were in the USA. But I can't help but think about the obvious reasons why it is not this way. Great Britain is smaller than the USA, so carriers need less cell towers.

I have a 5th gen 64gb and I am about out of room. I would go for a 128gb or higher, as long as they upgraded the processor and the RAM as well. Don't need the Touch ID or better cameras, though.

But if they bring out the new iPhone 6 with 128gb + more ram + faster processor + bigger screen, I would just drop my current phone and ipod and go with one device when I upgrade. Though I do like to buy used phones to save money. I imagine the new iPhone fully dressed out will be pretty pricey.

In a heartbeat.

My classic is on its way out and cloud streaming doesn't work for me since I deploy a lot and don't have access to cellular or wifi.

There's a market for the Classic. It's a very specialised device, and some people want that. There's no market for an iPod Touch with huge, expensive storage.

Sure there is. If you have an Android phone, you can still get all the benefits of iOS without having to also have an iPhone in addition to the Android phone (i.e. if you have to use an Android phone). So, Android for phone calls, texting, maps and mobile web browsing. iPod Touch for all the apps and gaming. That's what I was doing for years until I got my iPad Mini (it has essentially replace the iPod Touch). I don't like Android apps. So, I've oly really downloaded a minimal number of the free ones.

My 60 gig 2005 iPod w Colour display seems to have died. I used it to listen to music in my car, on a plane, at the beach or while exercising. I also use it with a camera connector to back up any photos I take while on vacation.

I have an iPad 2 but depending on price, would buy a large capacity iPod if it would do all that my iPod could do. I do not need or want wifi or xG capability, I do not want a smart phone. Something like the 160 gig Classic would meet my needs and I am thinking of getting one of those but a 250 gig at a good price would be considered

I wonder, would you buy an ipod touch,if apple release the 160gb this september?..because,i will certanly buy it..no doubt..my ipod classic couldn't play song throught bluetooth and doesn't has built in speaker..

Yes. I have a 4th Gen 64GB model that is filled with music and audiobooks. I'd like some room for video.

What nonsense. An iPhone plays music just as well as an iPod Touch, but it can do a lot more. Like making phone calls, and satellite navigation. There would be few people willing to pay a lot of money for a 160 GB iPod Touch, and not willing to spend a little bit more to get an iPhone.

They can release a 256gb one  and still I would not come near it. I don't get it, why not get an iPhone, instead.

Some of us have no particular wish to have an iPhone, delightful though it is. For some, it is a question of the extra cost. For me, personally, I have no desire to have a smart phone, and my antique Nokia serves perfectly well for what I wish to do with a phone, which is simply phoning, texting and ignoring it. This means that I neither want nor need a smartphone, and view them as a (rather elegant technological) distraction.

But I do have a desire to have a device with a larger storage capacity as I have a large music library and wish to ensure that I can have it with me whenever I travel (which is often). Thus, at present, I have two classics, with 80GB and 160 GB, and would happily pay for an iTouch with an increased capacity.

Price. Add your data cost with the iPhone cost and tell me what you are paying over a 2 year period

Indeed; I agree.

That's my point. I'm still not sure why people say that the cost difference between an iPhone and Touch is not much. Just add together the cost of the iPhone (subsidized or not) along with two years of a cell plan. You can buy multiple Touch for what you pay for an iPhone over two years. Granted, the iPhone does more but, for myself and many other people, the cost is not worth it.

I also wouldn't buy any device with more than 64GB.

Well said.

I'm not interested in the iPod touch but I'd snap up a classic with a bigger hard drive. :)

As would I; but then, I'd also cheerfully buy an iTouch with a larger memory/bigger hard drive.

Beautifully stated! I have an iPad (cellular) and an iPod Touch. Since free WiFi is so readily available now, especially in stores, the Touch goes everywhere with me. It's 32GB with lots of storage to spare.

My iPad handles all my navigation, movies, books, etc. and my TracFone is used solely for phone calls. I spent all of $80 last year to feed my phone and still have over 1,000 unused minutes on it (which roll over).

To answer the OP's question, I wouldn't buy a 160GB Touch simply because I don't need that amount of storage.

iPod Classic

I still use my first year Classic on an almost daily basis - for travel, local drives in the car, at home, wherever. I have a 64GB iPhone, so I would not buy a Touch, but I love the high capacity of the Classic and I do still like the dial control. When I travel internationally, my iPhone is of little use, so I bring an iPad to use the internet with wifi and the Classic for music. (I know - enough with the Apple products already...) However, I would truly love to have a high capacity Nano for travel. It would be much lighter and more convenient in my pocket while I'm walking around.

I stream music occasionally, but normally just on wifi due to the expensive data plans in the US, and I have no international plan. Regardless, I prefer to own my music the old fashioned way. I listen to what I want, when and where I want, regardless of available signals or any country's agreements with some online service. I know this is asking for the moon, but I really want a high capacity (128GB or better) Nano. Pretty please, Santa...

Higher capacity flash storage, like the 128GB in iPads, can have no effect on the physical size of the flash storage. Look at SD card flash storage. There is no reason that there cannot be 128GB iPhones, iPod nanos, or even wearables. I'm definitely looking forward to a high capacity iWatch or small iPod nano.
