If EVERYONE has gone from 5 bars to 3........

I'm still at 5 bars just like before the update. Covering the antenna on the lower left does not drop any bars.
 
Please stop the constant bloviating. It is getting sickening.

I am still at 5 bars after the update, in several locations.
 
Why are people freaking out? You're going to get the exact same signal you got before, it's just the graphic showing you a representation of that signal has changed.

Obviously, it's not a fix for the antenna, and Apple has never said as such. This has been their intended fix from their announcement of it.

Why are people on these forums such bizarre cry babies?

No comment on the cry baby part but at this point Apple probably should've written in big, colorful letters, "THIS DOESN'T FIX THE SIGNAL PROBLEM THAT ISN'T A PROBLEM UNTIL WE ADMIT IT'S A PROBLEM TOMORROW."

And why are people like you so plain ignorant???? where the hell in my posts does it say anything about me not understanding what this update does???? I KNOW WHAT IT DOES......and for the record i dont have any issues with the phone.....pre update and post!!! I was just making a simple observation that most people seem to be respresenting 3 bars now in general......and my thread was NOT about moaning about "loss of bars".....cos i knew the old firmware was a false reading......it just seems very suss to me that their supposed "new formulae" seems to make most ppl on 3 bars....instead of maybe 2 or 4........but as i have had many replies with different results then i am glad......it means they seemed to have got the formulae right.....which is good!

Your initial post says, "I don't know what to think anymore :(."

WTF? What is there to think about? It's VERY clear what's going on. Not to mention you state that everyone's dropped signal as fact when you have your singular experience to look at.

Get a grip on yourself!

lol i dont even know where to start with how stupid you are.....but never mind........i'll just have to accept u have no idea of my concern and we'll just leave it at that.......

for the rest of you with brains......i am glad there are quite a few different readings and my fears of apple's new formulae being wrong again have been eased somewhat.....(yes siskokid....that was my only concern....not anything else like antenna issues).......so i'm glad the update seems to show a true reading after all.
 
4 or 5 down to steady 4. No biggie.

I have absolutely no problem with that issue because I have a case. I am very concerned with the proximity sensor issue...

Next time ask a simple question instead of freaking out and making assumptions.

i've heard a lot of people saying the update made this issue better.....is that not the case for you?? just wondering...i never had the problem in the first place so i cant really test it

Or....how bout not jumping down people's throats without actually reading properly....each to their own.
 
I went from 5 to 3. What the heck?

So this whole time when I had my iPhones, I really thought I had FULL service but I really only had three bars? Why is it the two other people next to me with AT&T and ****** flip phones have FULL service?
 
I updated and got 3 bars maximum. I reset my network settings afterwards and now I am at a full 5 bars. Not saying that this is a fix by any stretch but it seems to have changed for me.
 
Still 5 for me at home but gets trashed by simply bridging across the antenna separator.

I would say that your phone is displaying a far more accurate # than theirs, now.
Besides, 5 or 3, you'll still get the same service.
 
AT&T - more bars in more places (unless you own an iPhone 3G/3GS/4 running 4.0.1)...

I really wish I had another 3G phone to compare signal differences. For now all I have is my iPhone 3G.
 
I just finished updating and the only thing that changed with my bars was the look of them.

I have always gotten around 1 bar, 2 if your super lucky and standing at the back door. It didn't matter what phone we have the bars have always been the same in our house. Well, after the update what do you know I still get 1 bar and occasionally 2 for a few minutes, same as before.

I cannot and have not been able to get my bars to drop pre or post update.
No "Death Grip" Issue
No Proximity Sensor Issue

I guess I got a good one.
