I am not ready to drop the iPhone, but I am ready to drop AT$T. I live in Fountain Colorado which is basically an outskirt area of Colorado Springs and I am in both cities every day. Supposedly we have great coverage here... its ok, but I wouldnt call it great. I think I am on the GPRS network just as much as I am on the 3G or Edge network. I drop tons of calls. I just recently switched out my sim card and that helped a tiny bit, but I still drop calls maybe like 5% less than before. Everytime I drop the call I look down on my phone its full bars... WTF? Verizon kills AT$T in this area (and everywhere else I've used it; Anywhere in CO, Las Vegas, Bay Area, and places in between).
There are trade offs though such as I was with Verizon for like 8 years and not once did they ever have a phone that wasn't obsolete and/or boring within like 3 months. Verizon does it on purpose, I believe, to make that extra buck. I finally switched and have been happy with my iPhone since (not the cell service). The time and dedication that Apple puts into the thing says it all. Yes they release a new phone every year, but the old phone always gets the bulk of the updates along with the new phone (software wise; except MMS obv on the 2G). No Verizon phone does this. They release them as the new best thing, and 6 months later they're on sale and the "newer bestest" thing is released.
So if you want good phone service go to VZW, but if you want the best phone iPhone all day.
(Yes I will be switching back to VZW if the iPhone ever goes there.)
