I actually had a Samsung flip before the iPhone. More dropped calls in 3 months than I had had in several years on Sprint and Verizon. This has a lot to do with why I want a Verizon iPhone.

Admittedly it has improved, but it still doesn't meat my expectations. Really got annoyed sitting on the side of I-35 the other day and my call dropped while trying to call a buddy with a jack to change a tire (seems my dealer of or the previous owner ripped the jack out of my car before selling it to me.)

well see there's your problem, you used a Samsung! two cans and a string would work better than a samsung...J/J

Most of my Samsung phones have worked well. Had a lemon on Sprint once. Blamed Sprint for the bad reception...until I replaced it and realized it was just a bad phone. So yeah, some people's complaints could definately be their phone.

It's my Samsung DLP that crapped out and pissed me off though! I replaced it with an LG LCD. ;)

In the last 10 months I've been with AT&T, I have had better customer service, cheaper bills than I would have had with a verizon smartphone, perfectly adequate coverage, and been thrilled to death with my rollover minutes- they've saved me a fair amount of money already.

With Verizon, I had spotless coverage, extremely rare dropped calls, rude as heck service, crap for choice of phones and tons of overage charges. Mind you, I had the same number of minutes a month with both plans- the only difference is rollover.

For me, the ever so slightly lower quality coverage/signal is definitely worth the trade off. I won't be going back to Verizon. In fact, F verizon in it's stupid head. :D

If you guys keep killing each other, Androids going to take over the world.. :p

Nooooooooooooooooooooo! LOL

I don't mind. Glad to see another iPhone competitor. Hopefully MS will get back in the game w/ Windows Phone 7.

It would be nice to see both Google and MS get stronger control of the hardware so they might finally make a product that rivals the quality of the iPhone. But until I'm ready to retire my accessories, I'm sticking with the iPhone. But maybe on Verizon one day. ;)

Thats why I created it. I did not remember ever seeing an actual poll with the threads prior. And with all of the talk recently about Verizon...I thought it would be interesting/fun to see the numbers.

These forums have some of the most petty people that I have ever seen. Its sad actually.

If you are that interested in seeing then numbers then why not do a search and go through and count the people who said yes and those who said no instead of creating a thread that gets created once a day...

This is pretty much why I stopped reading these forums... its always, "If Verizon, OMG, gets the iPhone, OMGWTFBBQ, are you going to switch??? I mean like I am so effin exicted that it will finally happen. Ignore all the rumors that have been brought up 10x a year for the past 3 years, this one is totally the real deal... OMG!!!"

Undecided

It will come down to how much the switch is gonna be. I've been with AT&T since the iPhone came along, not really happy with it, and only switched because of the iPhone. Recently brought in the hubs so we would only have a single phone bill. Just today hubs was complaining about his signal when he's inside his office building. I agree, it's raining here in Central Ohio today and just because of that, I only have two bars at home where I usually have a full set. When it comes to coverage, Verizon beats AT&T hands down, I know this because I used to train Verizon tech support. Prices are comparable. So again, if the switch is not gonna set me back big time, and this is coming from somebody who paid T-Mobile the $200 ETF to get the iPhone, I think I will make the switch.. I guess.. :p

whatever is cheapest

plus at&t has got me on the contract

if both were the same pricing, id stick with at&t, i like to be able to talk and surf on the web at the same time

Wow, now that we know there is a 5 year deal between Apple and AT&T then maybe these polls and Verizon fan boys can move on to a more appropriate forum. They certainly don't belong here!!

AT&T does just fine by me. :D

3 Years? Join date of 2009? I guess you could have changed your login.

Interesting reading....
I'd say wait until WWDC. Thats what I did when I made the jump... of course I am one of the ones that hate the ATT service where I am at (Colorado Springs/Fountain). Hoping that VZW someday gets the ithingy.

I am not ready to drop the iPhone, but I am ready to drop AT$T. I live in Fountain Colorado which is basically an outskirt area of Colorado Springs and I am in both cities every day. Supposedly we have great coverage here... its ok, but I wouldnt call it great. I think I am on the GPRS network just as much as I am on the 3G or Edge network. I drop tons of calls. I just recently switched out my sim card and that helped a tiny bit, but I still drop calls maybe like 5% less than before. Everytime I drop the call I look down on my phone its full bars... WTF? Verizon kills AT$T in this area (and everywhere else I've used it; Anywhere in CO, Las Vegas, Bay Area, and places in between).

There are trade offs though such as I was with Verizon for like 8 years and not once did they ever have a phone that wasn't obsolete and/or boring within like 3 months. Verizon does it on purpose, I believe, to make that extra buck. I finally switched and have been happy with my iPhone since (not the cell service). The time and dedication that Apple puts into the thing says it all. Yes they release a new phone every year, but the old phone always gets the bulk of the updates along with the new phone (software wise; except MMS obv on the 2G). No Verizon phone does this. They release them as the new best thing, and 6 months later they're on sale and the "newer bestest" thing is released.

So if you want good phone service go to VZW, but if you want the best phone iPhone all day.

(Yes I will be switching back to VZW if the iPhone ever goes there.)

For some reason that picture puts a smile on my face... I know why, I'm tired of my calls being dropped.

You didn't seem to hate the threads back then. Guess you've seen too many since then. I agree there are too many, but glad to see an actual poll.

Looks like lots of happy AT&T users. Makes sense why so many people are tired of the Verizon threads, but still not a good excuse to disrespect each other. Those of us that want Verizon probably all have good reasons. I can't imagine it's just because we're "fanboys". The whole idea of a carrier fanboy is idiotic. We just have better experiences on a different carrier, that's all. Can't you guys accept that and let it go?

Hmmmm....discussing the carrier of the iPhone in an iPhone forum. Yup...you're right....totally inappropriate!

Needs an option for - "I would drop AT&T - want more coverage." I don't hate AT&T, but their coverage isn't exceptional.

Only if I can use data while in a phone call.

Impossible on Verizon's current network. However, unlike AT&T's EDGE service, if you are using Verizon 3g, the incoming call will interrupt the data. But you cannot use both at the same time, like AT&T 3g.

You AT&T fanboys are killing ME.

I'll explain it simply:

Verizon fanboy:

Talks about how great the iPhone would be if only it came to Verizon

ATT fanboy:

Talks about how great the iPhone currently is on ATT based on factual real-world use.

Doesn't so much sound like fanboy as much as 'satisfied customer sick of whining from the other side just because they don't get the cool toys.'

Neither is a fanboy. Both just want the phone on a carrier they know works well for them.....factual real-world experience.

Your rudeness doesn't help you win arguments. Just makes you look foolish.

I would not switch from AT&T not because I thinks it's the best or wost but I figure if it would be offered on another carrier some people would jump ship and the AT&T network might become less congested. Overall i'm pretty satisfied with my AT&T service and I can't remember the last time I had a dropped call...I am in Miami, FL by the way. I've never tried Verizon but have tried Sprint and I also had good coverage but AT&T was better.

I'm leaving AT&T in August regardless of which carrier has what phone. AT&T is simply awful here. At home on 3G I can get 1.4Mbps down but at work on 3G the best I've ever gotten was 34kbps. 34kbps. Slower than my old AOL dial-up connection. I can leave my phone on my desk and watch my 3 bars of 3G drop to 1 3G, then back up to 4 3G, then down to 3 EDGE, then Searching..., then 3 3G, on and on, all day.

I love ATT. Fast data and great connection where I live. Plus can't beat the price of a premier account.

It really boils down to three things - phones, cost, and coverage.

For me, no phone compares to the iPhone. For me. I like the simplicity of the OS and the power off the apps. I like the way the apps integrate with the OS. I do not care about multi-tasking. I think it is overrated and just one of those things people point out, but don't really use or need. Anyway, Apple is addressing that with 4.0.

AT&T costs less for me with the same level of service as Verizon. Rollover minutes really helps cut down on overages as I have yet to have one with AT&T. I have a ton of minutes banked, so I know I will not go over even if I have an emergency - like a death in the family - that requires days of extra phone calls.

In the areas that I travel in, AT&T coverage has been consistently better than Verizon. Plus, I can talk and surf at the same time. Big bonus.

I do not plan on leaving AT&T as long as my needs do not change. I have been trying Verizon over the past few weeks and their service does not compare to AT&T's. I wanted to be able to tether my iPad, but that need was not as great as I thought it would be. I regret leaving and will be switching back as soon as I can get to an AT&T store.
