You say this with a straight face after telling us you have an iPhone and you'll be getting an iPad?

Seems like you have some devices to ditch if you want to be a better person as well.

And with a name like three penis wine, I wouldn't want you around my kids, that's for sure.

Name has been reported as inappropriate. His only post tells you he is a Troll

Especially if the Mini2 is $329, I would not. I assume it would include an upgrade to the processor as well.

What would be the market for an Ipad5 as you see it?

7-8" tablet is just too small for me, so I'm not going to buy any iPad mini in the future.
I need a phone AND a tablet, so I like to have a 4-4.3" smartphone and a 10" tablet.

Who will buy it? People who think the mini is ghey?

But the new Mini will approve upon first gen and in the first go round, it slaughtered larger ipads in sales without retina and lesser specs.

Try again, fruit cake.

That's because it was new and exciting and cheap.

While there were many people who genuinely wanted a smaller iPad, there were also many people, like myself, who wanted to try out the smaller size. When I upgrade I'm just as likely to go with the larger iPad as the mini isn't that much more portable; I still need a bag to carry it.

A better indication of which is the more popular device is when the mini has been around for two or so years.

Me! I have a 2 and a 4. The 2 is JB'd and I tend to use it more than the 4. I'll probably sell the 4, keep the 2, and buy a 128GB 5! :D

Edit: The size of the Mini does nothing for me. If I want smaller, my phone will do. If I want larger, I have a 15" Windows laptop and if I want even bigger then my Mac hooked up to my 24" Cinema Display...
PERSONALLY, I have no use for a Mini, currently.

I would get the 5 for the bigger screen. I read a lot of technical books on my iPad and the 9.7" screen is as small as I'd want to go. I also take notes with my ipad, and again, it is cramped enough as it is. Video, web pages, etc., all are better with the bigger screen, too.

(I have the original iPad, which I'll probably upgrade to the 5.)

It may very well be those owning a Mini also own a larger ipad, the latter being the workhorse at home and the Mini for on the go.

Hard to pinpoint who bought it and now have more than one iPad, gave up the larger and just went with the Mini or folks wanting to take the plunge into an Ipad for a cheaper price than the normal $499.

Guess it is a combination of those scenarios without knowing which one is more the majority.

If a 2nd Mini comes with retina and that much better specs than the current and cellular is $429, that will probably be the one I'll buy and I'll sell the 4th gen. I was not going to go for cellular with the Ist gen Mini I bought knowing I'd sell it as soon as a newer one was released. Heck, I didn't even get that far before I switched into the 4th gen.

I have an iPad mini and sold my iPad 4 when I got it. The form factor is just too good on the mini - I've asked myself this question and had thought it was a "for sure" I'd get the mini, but now I'm starting to second guess.....

I think it will depend on the size of the 5. If they do move to the "mini"
form factor and the 5 is considerably lighter and thinner (and overall smaller) than the 3/4, I might be tempted to go that route simply because i use it at home mostly.

The other wrinkle for me is, I'd really like to get a new MBA when they release with Haswell.....if I got a 13" MBA, I'd likely stick with the mini....

Who knows - I'll have to get into a store and get my hands on one to really know for sure!

I'd go with the larger iPad.

Performance is king, IMO.

I'm afraid the Mini is destined to be like the iPod Touch and always get last year's stuffing.

Oh i already tried it, twice in fact. It's a no brainier for the kids, but not for me. It felt kind of dated. 512mb ram? In 2013? Really?

Sales figures mean nothing to me, I go for usability, and a larger screen does that for me.

I am hoping that the iPad 5 will be a fair bit lighter. Personally I want the bigger one because it will be more powerful, and I want the fastest iOS experience available. If the mini had the same CPU and specs as the bigger one I'd definitely get it instead.

For me,the big negative with the ipad 4 is the weight and not so much it's size. It's already a porker naked but with a case it feels like a block of lead.If the ipad 5 weighs less than 1lb then I can see it stealing sales from a few potential mini buyers.

I use mine mainly at home so I will always go for the full size.If I needed to use it mainly on the road then the mini would be a no brainier.

Hi - short term listener, first time caller....

I'd like to offer a few things to the thread, if it's not to late.

The way I see it, there are currently four options available: iPad 2 (older processor, lower resolution screen), iPad 3 (older processor, Retina display), iPad Mini (older processor, lower resolution screen, smaller form factor), and iPad 4 (newest processor, Retina display). This gives buyers a choice of the type of iPad experience they want at different prices.

I also see the possibility of a couple different outcomes for a new Mini:

1.) The same size, weight, and screen as the current Mini, but with an upgraded processor and/or memory and/or storage capability. There are certainly enough rumors floating around that support this theory. I would envision this Mini sold at the same price as the original Mini, with the original now being reduced in price (as was the iPad 2 when the 3 came out, and the 3 when the 4 came out, etc.).

2.) The same length and depth as the current Mini, but thicker than the original (as the iPad 4 was over the 3) to allow for a Retina display with an upgraded processor to run it, as well as a larger battery to maintain current battery life. I envision this new Mini being priced higher than the original (between the original and the iPad 4's current price), with the original maintaining it's current pricing.

With either outcome I would guess that the iPad 2 is no longer offered, and neither would the iPad 3 if an upgraded full-sized model is introduced. This would leave a low-end and high-end option available in both the full-sized and mini models.....maintaining four available options for the consumer.

What I also consider a possibility, and one that I've never heard mentioned before, is that a new Mini with Retina display being the only new iPad released this year. This still leaves four iPad options available, with both a low and high end option available in either size, with four different price points.

At any rate, I would welcome a Mini with Retina display. Whether or not the Mini is "significantly" more portable than the iPad 4 seems to be debatable, according to varying opinions. What I don't think is debatable is the usability of the Mini - it can be "one handed", allowing ease of use by children, those with small hands, lying in bed, etc. I've spent many hours going back and forth between the current Mini and the iPad 4 (I don't own either but I have been borrowing and/or spending too much time in local stores), and even WITHOUT comparing them I find the current Mini "fuzzy" when viewing web pages or anything with text, even though the text is large enough to read. Of course, this fuzziness is rectified with a fair amount of pinching and zooming, but I find it a much more pleasant experience to use the iPad 4 because there's way less zooming required (for me, at any rate). In my "tests", I've come to the conclusion that I won't have to do the majority of the zooming I do on a Mini if it had a Retina display.......so, I'm hoping that the new Mini has Retina, and has no more than a minimal increase in size, weight, or price!

I might get the ipad 5 and use it as a sheet music reader. But I've never owned an ipad. Wife uses ipad 3. Heck, I might just get a heavily discounted 3.

I will buy the ipad mini retina first then eventually have the bigger ipad. My wife have been reading her kindle books on the G-Note II so I think the ipad mini retina will be a good present for her.

But technically a retina mini will be heavier as it needs bigger battery to drive the retina display. And chassis will be bigger also. Hopefully not much as a retina mini will be the ultimate go to tablet. So for me it's not ipad 5 but mini retina.

If Mini 2 Gets Retina, Who Will Buy iPad 5?

If the next Mini has a much faster processor and a Retina display I will get it, otherwise I am getting the iPad 5 as soon as it is released.

I think thats why the are rumors claiming apple wont release one with retina, it would just cannibalize the sales of ipad 5. To me a separate launch sounds more likely, then again apple has had a history of proving most of my predictions wrong.

I would buy an ipad mini retina on an instant, heck, if it isnt announced I will get an ipod touch 5, I need another ios device to keep my growing collection of music and apps.

I still have my ipad 2 and see no need to upgrade on that front, to me it is stilla superb tablet, anyone on the same boat?

Work iPad

I think anyone who wants to use the iPad for work/school will be more interested in the iPad5. The mini is great for games and entertainment if you want something very mobile, but for read PDF's, textbooks, annotating files, using Pages, etc the iPad5 is far better suited. Given that the regular iPad is already pretty mobile compared to a laptop, and most people carry a bag to work or school, I just need something smaller and lighter than my MBP.

Just my opinion, but I think each has their own uses. I hope to eventually be able to afford one of each.

I'd like to have an iPad 5 for use around the house. I love my iPad 2. It's great for jumping on the Internet, checking e-mail or just reading an e-book.

I also love the portability of the iPad Mini. It's great for supplementing a Smartphone.

I now have a Mini with cellular. It does not matter any longer to me to get a Mini 2 regardless of the specs and size. I will not be able to attain it for the price I got the current Mini for which my friends categorize as "grand larceny" and it was purchased new, not a refurb or preowned.

The iPad 5 would not be in the running at all to tell the truth. I would get the Mini 2 before I would buy the 5 anyways.

I own a Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire 7 HD and they are way too small. They are convenient when traveling due to their size. Around the home I use my iPad 2 and 3 all of the time. I'll get the iPad 5th gen because it's going to be narrower.

I'm a mini user regardless. The original iPad never interested me because of its size. The mini really hit the sweet spot for me, as I also thing tablets like the Nexus 7 are a little small (and I don't find Android software useful on a tablet). So retina or not on the next mini, I still have very little interest in the full size iPad.
