I'm assuming the hypothetical agreement is binding in some fashion. I'd say no. As broke as I am, it's not that much money.

What do you do if you're trapped in the Mac lab at some school with no phone and no one around to hear your screams and you're running out of oxygen. Are you barred from using the available computers to access the outside world? "Oh Noes! I took that $15k; goodbye cruel world."

overthinking much?

$15,000? Hello Windows 7.

Yep, Windows pricing is that ridiculous. ;)

$15,000? Dude, I'm gettin' a Dell.

And people say Macs are expensive?! There's no way I'd pay $15,00 for a Dell. ;)

Bill Gates showed up at your house too!?

Gates purposely retired so that he could visit every Mac user personally to buy them out, or beat them into submission, or failing that simply steal their Mac ... just like Microsoft has done with most of the computing industry and the joke "justice" systems of multiple countries. :(

As Steve Jobs said a while ago OS X is the Mac OS for the next two decades, and as OS X came out 1999/2000 it would mean OS XI arrives in eight to ten years.

15.000 USD for an average of nine years use of another OS would only be 4,56 USD per day. I'd gladly pay 5€ (7.19 USD) per day to use Mac OS X instead of Windows or some of the Linux flavours out there.

Shhh ... you'll give Steve Jobs ideas for Mac OS X 10.6. Oh dear, too late, they patented forced advertising for "free" products a couple of weeks back. ;)

Not a chance. I'd not even think of saying yes unless it were 20x that amount :)

i dont know if i would go back to windows on my personal computer necessarily... i havent messed with windows 7, but i would go to Ubuntu again before i went to windows..

Everyday at work i am forced to used Windows, and i guess im okay with it.. free laptop vs no laptop... you tell me

Of course, I have snow leopard and windows 7, and would be willing to use either one, I'm not stuck on macs. However, if this included ipods and possible tablets, this may be a different answer.

It's scary that I've been using OSX for less than two days and I had to think about this.

15k really doesn't sound like much but it would put a significant dent in my student loan principal so yes, I'd dump OSX.

I certainly wouldn't be happy about it though.
