Alright, if I don't get approved for the best buy card, the Juniper VISA will be my backup. Now, Ive read the terms of aggreement (not all of it, mind you, because it IS rather long) and I do realize there's no annual fee, but an interest of 11.7% minimum. There's something about no interest if paid off within 90 days of purchase, but Id kinda like to spread out the payments a little longer. Would I have the option of doing that with the Juniper VISA? Thx.

The only reason anyone should be waiting on buying a Macbook / Pro is if they're considering a Quadcore Pro. Otherwise, technically speaking, unless you're a hardcore developer, you'll probably see pretty much no difference from a Macbook you buy in June compared to if you get one now.

Thanks to everyone who replied. The thing is, I wouldn't be able to buy my MacBook until June 1, which is when I turn 18, and when I can apply for a card. I've decided to wait until WWDC (exactly one week from my birthday) to make my purchase. If there's an update, Ill wait until Best Buy has them in stock (Ill apply for the best buy card on my birthday, and if I don't get approved, Ill apply for the Juniper VISA., and buy directly from Apple the day the update is released.) Again, thanks to everyone who replied. It helped a lot :).

I've had my credit card for 10 months and have paid the balance off every time on time and I couldn't get approved (last month) for another credit card or even a small limit raise.

That's because you've been paying the balance off every month.

It takes thirty days to report to the credit bureaus, so paying it off monthly never shows the credit bureau that you even use the card, so you're not building any credit that way.

Keep a small revolving balance, even $10 or so and it will start to build your credit. Paying it off every month doesn't help your credit at all.

The "New Macbook" just came out in October, the update will not be where it's new hardware. I was just in the Apple Store looking at refub macbook, because hubby want one now (I'm as Mac, and he's a PC). You should check there first, and once you get your school ID go buy it you will get a discount (I work a a college, I got $100 off,.

That's not true. I got my credit score and it was at 710 yet I still couldn't get an increase.

I work as an "apple expert" at a best buy and when new macs are announced they are fedexed straight from apple a couple days later and they dont come on the normal weekly shipments, actually when they announced the updated imacs in march they were already in the store the night before. and its not a bad idea to use the bby card, you only have to put $500 on the card to get the 18 months with no interest, so you dont have to be that much in debt.

Oooh, thanks :). Now do you know if ALL or at least MOST best buys get them overnight, or is it based on location?

Based off what I've seen(I'm an active employee at Best Buy), it's based on location, because the AluMacbooks didn't arrive until a few weeks after they came out.

Crap. I'm on the east coast, so We'd probably get them close to last, right? BTW, Im in CT.

Ok, i bought my Macbook couple of months ago thru best buy, and they DO give you the same student discount as you can get in an Apple store. Just ask the store manager and he/she will be more than willing to offer you one.

Second, if u planning to save money and if there is no new Macbook at wwdc, i would suggest that you look for the open box ones at best buy. i got mine as an open box with already reduced open box price, i got a 50$ discount for just asking and also got my student discount. If i remember correctly, i paid 1300 something for 2.4 alu macbook.

Hey, just wondering, does anyone know how much the monthly payments would be if I were to buy the macbook aluminum base model from best buy? the 1299 on.

Minimum payments are anywhere from 1-5% of the balance depending on the card/bank.

But, like others have said, it's very unlikely you will be approved for a card with Best Buy - it's not exactly a starter card. Co-signer may improve chances.

there is technically no student discount so you cant expect them to give you one. that being said i have seen managers override this and give them but its not very often as the macs are supposed to be price locked from apple. its up to them, they might be more inclined if you get the accidental coverage if you were thinking of getting that on the laptop which is actually kinda nice on the macbooks, $99 and it covers if you break it. also it is true that there are often open box macs for %10 off, ask them
