If the next iPhone has the feature of an 'always on-screen' display, would you enable the feature?

That's why the sensors are powered on perpetually and are constantly aware of the correct user and when their pupils are aimed at the device, momentarily turning the display on, and back off immediately when the user looks away.

Not really, but it would be cool

But how will you know it goes off when you look away? haha

Definitely not! When I'm not using my phone, there's no need for the display to be on. It'll be a distraction if the display is lit up and my phone is in view, if it's in my pocket it's pointless, unnecessary battery drain. And can't OLED screens suffer screen burn?

Go check out the Samsung displays and others. It's barely even noticeable that the date/time is on. The whole screen is certainly not lit up like you seem to think.

As with anything, it depends on the implementation. I generally have many ways to check the time, so I'm not particularly dependent on my iPhone to provide that function.

I don't see a purpose to denying that it might be a feature, seems quite possible it could be one. With my eyesight, I'd want a larger time display, as on the lock screen, rather than small digits at the top edge of the display. (I referred to my flip phones as "big-ass pocket watches" long before iPhone came along.)

It may not be in the iOS 11 beta code or even in the HomePod firmware, but if the OLED iPhone does come out a month so later than the other new iPhones, it could come with a later revision.

Its not so convenient to have to wake the screen every time to check if theres any new notifications...

I would use it. Once you had it you want it again, same as wireless charging. Just wait, a lot of you will come around.

Maybe you should read up on technology that's ten plus years old before making inaccurate posts.
Even Samsung Galaxy S8 screens get burn-in (which are using the switch technology). No LED display is completely immune. Just have a look at iMac forums. Maybe you should read up on what’s going on in the world that’s affecting buyers using current technology, before making naive replies .

That's not the reason phones are burning in.

Maybe you should read up. Always On Displays have been used in other phones besides the S8. It's another reason for the vulnerability beside just the AOD.

That's why I'm excited about OLED. It's one feature I miss on the iPhone compared to Andriod (some sort of notification light or screen trick to show that you have new notifications.) Individually backlit pixels means you can have the lock screen show new notifications without turning on the backlight for the entire screen like an LED would. Who knows if Apple will implement this feature on the iPhone 8 though...

What is? You’re not making any sense

Makes perfect sense. Other phones have had Always On Displays. Are other phones having burn ins at the rate the S8 is? So you blaming an AOD for burn in, is like saying phone batteries are bad because of the Note 7.

All the Galaxy 7's(Edge, Note, Active...) had AOD's. LG's have had AOD's.

In other words you can't blame AOD for burn in
