Why would anyone pay $250 just for a better camera in the case of a 6.1 inch iPhone 12. Or $$350 for the 6.7 inch. In short, one extra lens +Lidar for like 33% of the phone price? Seems a stretch. Granted your gadget geeks will certainly fork over the cash but seems like many may be turned off by that.

5.4 iPhone 12 D52G OLED / 5G 2 cam $649
6.1 iPhone 12 D53G OLED / 5G 2 cam $749
6.1 iPhone 12 Pro D53P OLED / 5G 3 cam + LiDAR $999
6.7 iPhone 12 Pro Max D54P OLED / 5G 3 cam + LiDAR $1,099

Bigger screen + bigger battery + better camera.

Options, options, options. Not hard to understand.
that's just it- it's the same screen size on the 6.1 $749 vs $999. Both OLED screens too. Perhaps a better refresh rate? In short, it looks like just the camera.

Haha the irony is that your name is: gadgetfreaky - So maybe you're one of these geeks?

Jokes aside, if these prices and specs are true, the Pro phones will be a hard sell even if they exclusively get the redesign that'll look similar to the iPad Pros. But I'm sure Apple will really differentiate the Pro phones and the cheaper iPhones even more this time around. Aside from the redesign that they'll feature, maybe a 120Hz screen and in display fingerprint sensor?

You caught me- I'll be getting the 6.7 inch version pretty much no matter what. I'd order it signs unseen if I could right now;)

I just think it's a huge gap. In the past the big bezels w/ LCD of the non pros made a big difference along with the Camera.

Features they could use to diferentiate the Pro:

- Newer processors while leave the others at last year.
- Obv the better camera with Lidar (known)
-120 mhz screen
- touch under the screen as CrazyforCashews mentioned. This has been rumored but I have not seen that rumor lately. Also super handy in covid times.
- Better battery life?
-smaller bezels / smaller notch

Add the possibility that the non Pro phones having the rounded frame of the current phones made out of aluminum where the Pro's will have the squared iPad Pro frame made from stainless steel

There is more to consider than just screen size and cameras. The Pro has Lirar and probably mm wave radios, while the plain 12 has no Lidar and probably no mm wave. RAM—don’t know. Storage—don’t know. Other differences—don’t know. The fact is that we don’t know anything certain about these phones until they are announced.

This could be one of the main differentiators and if it happens I would want the Pro but I’m planning on just getting the 12.

The only thing I look at with the 120Hz display, is how Apple intends to market this towards the consumer. Like, as in why would they care about this specific feature? I know for ‘techies’, we can differentiate certain display advancements (OLED v.s. LCD for example), especially when introducing the iPad years ago with 120Hz. But I just don’t think that’s going to reach a consumer to want to spend that type of money for this Feature, but then again, Apples most expensive iPhone really isn’t geared towards every consumer either.

I think the difference becomes very clear once you can compare those two in the stores with your own eyes. It immediately did for me when the 120Hz iPad Pros were released. I knew that I need to have those smooth scrolling babies and were willing to pay more for it without a second thought.

Right, and I agree that there are very clear differences, but I’m not disputing that. What I’m saying is, why would a consumer care about a 120Hz display? And how is Apple going to execute that specific type of marketing to sell over $1000 smart phone. Because in this time of an economic recession, every feature has to be specific of how they can sell the most expensive iPhone given What would be the selling point. Plus, I don’t think consumers generally go to stores just to see side-by-side Comparisons for both displays. Usually It has to be technology they can understand, which is why Apple emphasizes about 80% of marketing geared towards the camera, which obviously is the most popular feature for obvious reasons.

I would like to have the biggest screen possible. 6.7" sounds amazing. Also better battery life (due to larger size of the Pro Max phone) and OLED. I don't really care about the 5G or the LiDAR Scanner but i would also like to keep the 10x optical zoom that i already have in the 8 Plus.
