Best to cancel and eat ETF than pay AN EXTRA 400!!!

Frickin AT&T, this is highway robbery!!!

F**K that!! I won't be buying this then. I would like too, but not at a $600 price tag.

That does suck especially since they force a new contract, I could see that price for a new phone on an existing contract as that's the unsubsidized price. I'm glad my wife doesn't have one so I get a new one she can have my old one and when 4G comes out next year she gets the 3GS and I get a 4G.

This fricken sucks.

Why? What did you expect? A magic fairy godmother?

Wait until you're eligable. That's what I'll be doing.

(Which is NOT the same as when your contract is up. My 2-year takes me to July 2010, but I'm eligable for these prices in December 2009. Check your account online.)

honestly it makes sense, cause the new iphone isn't really an upgrade! its the same freakin phone! just video and compass!

Why is anyone surprised?

Anyone with sense has been quoting AT&T's upgrade policy for months and came to the same conclusion.

Stop. You're not gonna win the argument.

uh, according to this site the prices will be:

"The iPhone 3Gs is $199 for 16GB and $299 for a new 32GB version. It's coming on June 19th, including to the UK.

The old iPhone 3G will be available at $99."

Total BS. Seriously Apple you screwed this one up. You kept the plastic that cracks, and that's ugly as all get out. No front facing camera, no new casing, voice commands only for the 3GS, and now they won't lower the price for a contract extension for current iPhone customers. Seriously Apple this blows! Don't even get me started on the loss of Express/34 slots on all of the MBPs besides the 17". $700! GO AND SHOVE IT APPLE!!!

@ Malsch- That's the subsidized price. AKA new contract price.

That used to be the "no-contract" pricing.
Now you have to pay $700 AND you're locked in for 2 years?
That's a joke!
There should be an "early upgrade" $500 price.

When i enter my info it says I can upgrade for the following prices
300- 8GB
400- 16GB
500- 32GB

This is through clicking the get started link
I am not eligible for an upgrade until 7/13

$175.00 Price of breaking contract
$200.00 Price of iPhone 3GS 16gb under new contract
End price -- $375.00
Upgrade price -- $600.00
Logical approach seems to break contract.
