is it safe to say that for most people who bought the iphone 3g are eligable for a upgrade 12 months from the day you bought it so as long as you bout it say july the month it was released last year that your eligable for the subsidize price in one month?

most ppl shouldnt be complaining this is how its been with cell carriers and upgrades in the u.s. for as long as i can remember as frustrating as it is nothings really changed and this is all to be expected it be nice if they went back to 1yr contracts but thats unlikely at this point considering the costs of the new phones now a days

on a side note anyone know why the primary line in my family plan is the only one eligable for the upgrade after 12 months and the secondary isnt up for 18 months when i bought both iphones on the same day?

I read it.

You are WRONG.

This is why I am personally "whining."

I have a 3G that I payed FULL PRICE for because I wasn't elligable last year on launch day. Last I checked, it is more than 6 months from the last launch.

I am still getting quoted the HIGHER prices while others aren't. ($599/$699)

So can't I "whine?"

Just a little? :D
I had the same problem last year... with the original iPhone you didn't have to buy it with a plan, so I never renewed my contract. They tried to tell me that I did and tried to charge me the full price for the 3G. You just have to keep on talking to people until you get someone who knows what they're talking about.

Personally, I think this is a great way for more people to be pissed off at AT&T. I had no problem with the exclusive deal until now, but really it's time for a change in the whole business structure of the industry. We should be rewarded for customer loyalty instead of fined at every opportunity. I've been an AT&T/Cingular customer since I first got a cell phone 6 or 7 years ago and every time I've had to get a new phone (not just a new iPhone) it's been a battle.
Phones aren't just phones anymore... can they really make the argument that it'll be worse for business if they allow people to renew with the latest piece of technology every year if they just remain customers?

I was going to get the iphone. But I'll be damned if I pay almost 200 dollars more for it. It's just the principle.

I bought my phone on april last year, so my contract isn't up until 2010. AT&T is about to lose a customer. I think I rather Verizon at this point.
