Those who say they do not need flash are trying to convince themselves. I get tiired of running into site where I hit the "flash wall".

Look at the Samsung Galaxy S2 and software like DropBox!

I literally cannot think of a single time in the last 8 months or so that I have needed flash on my phone (or encountered any flash content for that matter). Can you point out a site where you have hit a 'flash wall' I'm curious as to which sites still use it?

While I agree that the iPhone is the best overall phone available, the other platforms that have flash also have this setting where you can turn flash on, off, or on demand, so for people like you who want no flash you can simply turn it off, for people like me who occasionally want flash can set it to on demand, and other crazy people who want the full web experience ads and all can set it to on. So there really is no need for the "argh! Keep that stinking flash away from my precious phone" mentality when they can just give us the option and everyone wins.

Sorry, everyone loses with flash involved.

I hardly use my iPhone for web browsing anymore because I have my iPad 2 with me everywhere I go... but when I do browse to a flash site on my iPhone, I just pull out my iPad 2, and view it on the iSwifter app... which is available in iTunes. It does a good job on flash sites, flash videos, and you can even play flash games. It sucks as an everyday browser though. The only downside is it only works on wifi... but that's where my 4G LTE mifi comes in handy. The flash UI sites I've looked at lately seems like it wouldn't be user friendly on a small screen anyway. It would be nice if there was an iSwifter app for the iPhone so we can have that option.

Yep, there are a very few instances where I need flash to watch sports videos (MLB.com) and the Skyfire app loads these Flash videos flawlessly.

I still have yet to check out this browser/app. Guess I should look into it.

Ucfgrad, that is why I made that disclaimer. It works best for me not all people.
You aren't going to win here. Even though you put in the proper disclaimer in the body of your text (folks usually do abbreviate the thread headline), they will just find something else to complain about. You did nothing wrong, just expect to get random comments if you start a thread.

I don't know what site you visit but I always needed flash . I haven't used my ipod for internet for some time , but one website i can think of is Vimeo. There is absolutely no way to see videos on idevices. Thats just pisses me off. I'm gonna get a phone in the fall and still don't know what to chose. I like the iphone's build quality and apps, but i hate that it doesn't have flash:(

I just went to vimeo.com on my iPhone 4 and iPad 2, and I was able to watch vimeo videos fine on Safari.

I don't do heavy browsing from my phone, but I visit a lot of different sites. As someone said, Vimeo works fine in Safari. Any other sites you can think of? I'm genuinely curious to see how many people can find that need flash.

Porn. It is what decided between Betamax vs VHS.

Check the 35th most visited site on the net to know what I mean :D

I also use MetaCafe. Not all videos I watch can be found in YouTube and the search is filtered anyway on the iPhone.

No one needs flash. Also, no one needs email or web access on their phone.

Its called a 'feature' and android has more of them than iOS. Look into it.

Some people might get tired of not having flash. It sucks not having the full internet available to you. I like my iPhone 4 but I wish it had flash. My asus transformer tablet is great and runs flash like a champ so I can view any website. I also have access to the file system so I can upload and save any file, not just pictures.

If flash and file system access are important to you I would definitely recommend an Android device. If you just want to browse the web occasionally an iDevice would be fine.
Personally, I would rather have 99% of the Internet and have a phone that works, than 100% of it and have a fragmented and laggy OS.
