I had a freezing issue with my new iPhone 4. After several hours on the phone with Apple Support, I was instructed to bring the phone back to the store for them to look at it (Apple Support made the appointment for me). I brought the phone in and they replaced it with a brand new sealed in retail box unit that seems to have no problems AND they sent me a complimentary white Apple bumper (sent an email to me today from "Corporate Customer Care Administration" confirming the shipment...
I thought it was nice of them...I'm happy...:D

Just called back my rep and he said there is a new document that is Apple's official stance on the matter which was exactly, word-for-word what Boy Genius Report posted.

Where he was previously telling me engineering is working on the problem, he is now telling me it is perfect and there is nothing wrong with it.

Returning it this weekend if there's no fix this week.

Better box it up. A fix is not coming IMO; a non issue in apples view.

If you don't like to read complaints about the iPhone 4, then stay out of threads with names like "If you are unhappy and don't feel like calling Apple."

Believe it or not, there are Apple fans who are extremely disappointed in both this issue and in Apple's response to it so far. The MacRumors forums seem like an appropriate place to voice this disappointment. Continued calls to just shut up from people like you are the real waste of bandwidth.

I hate to break this to you but whining on is forum isn't going to solve the problem. I hope it makes you feel better, but it's not going to fix your reception issue. The only fix for your problem is taking the phone back and waiting until next year or dealing with it and move on with life.

Agree that returning the phone is the best response, however Apple DOES listen to its customers. Complaining on this forum is helpful to let other potential buyers know of the problem, and to help inform those who think they don't have the problem.

No way, it's coming. Neither of us is right or wrong, just waging my bets with you!

;)

This issue will not go away and they can't have a year of complaints and bad publicity. I don't think anyway. There may not be a quick fix, but I'm convinced they are working on something.

Perhaps it will be fixed in "Version 4.5." As said, I have a hard time believing Apple will put up with the bad publicity from this issue for an entire year. Although I note that the iPad wifi issue has been ongoing for

Now if this happens, whether those with "4.0" get a free / cheap upgrade will be very interesting.

*** - Although I note that the iPad wifi issue has been ongoing since April with no hint yet of a fix. So who knows when or if Apple will acknowledge this issue or fix it. Perhaps they just don't give a damn anymore.
