Since I still have a 3GS iPhone, here's what it would take to get me to by a new iPhone:
(this is with the full expectation that NONE of these will be included in the next iPhone)

Something besides GLASS for the back (man, that's stupid)
The iPhone is now becoming Ho-Hum around the office, when everyone else is getting a sweet Android phone with a 4" screen, so Apple is going to have to do something exciting to keep folks interested. "Notifications" and gestures ain't going to do it.

Can't stand LCD and I couldn't care less about the iphone's ridiculous resolution. I also don't appreciate the tiny 3.5" display. Needs to be 4" or more.
I would switch to a Samsung Galaxy for this reason alone, but everything about non-Nexus Android phones seems like such a cluster****. Google really needs to set some hard rules about what manufacturers and carriers can and can't do to Android and make sure every phone gets updated at the same time.

Well, I was pleased with its speed when I got it. But you know, now I think I'd say a faster processor. And maybe a tougher home button (it seems kinda flakey sometimes).
Honestly, everything else is great about the phone. It addressed all the issues I had with my old iphone.
I'm sure I'll drool over the iphone 5 and when my contract is up I'll probably upgrade (cause I like getting new gadgets and I'm sure they'll find something to make me drool, even if it is just a much faster processor). But, I'm honestly happy with my 4 and I can't really think of much I'd want more (except more speed. Even if I was super happy with the speed now more speed is never bad
. well, long as it doesn't eat the battery).
