a one million xserve supercluster would be nice, maybe i could play doom 3 at native rez on a 3" on highest details with all the trimmings at 5000fps. muhahahaha.
I'd buy one of those...and run Folding@Home on it - producing 200,000,000 points per day with it. At that rate, I'd overtake OC-AMD, the #1 folder in the world, in 1 day.

if i had to choose i would still go with the prototype g5 dual core powerbook.

titanium, the coolest metal in the world, bar maybe tritanium, or palladium, they both sound cool.

or maybe a solid francium powerbook, explodes on it's own coolness in a matter of microseconds.

drooollll

i go like the majority with the fastest fully loaded powermac

but i will even go higher... i will add a few bottles of vodka for celebration ... because the day i have enough money for such a computer will be the day after i won in a lottery...and winning a lottery has to be celebrated

francium? more like the makes-you-impotent-your-flesh-due-to-even-minimal-amounts-of-sweat metal. fun! how about an osmium laptop?

Hmm - isn't it obvious that most people (at least those responding with currently existing products, not super-francium 23" dualcore dual Powerbook G6s with quantum processors and 1TB RAM) on this thread would answer-

Dual 2.5GHz Powermac G5
8GB RAM
0.5TB HDD
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL
2x 30" Apple Cinema Displays
Airport Extreme
Bluetooth
56k Modem (just for completeness)
Pioneer 108 DVD+/-/R/RW/DL
PCI-X Gigabit Ethernet
PCI-X Fibre Channel
iSight
Apple wireless mouse and keyboard
Sennheiser HE 90/HEV 90 Orpheus speakers

but then again, we can be happy with what we already have than to dream of others that we know not of... ;)

id get the vt supercomputer. imagine the games i can play with that baby!

Nevermind the games, you might actually get good performance from VirtualPC 6. :p

According to Virtual PC 6:
I can run Windoze XP on a Pentium II 439Mhz with MMX technology, says my iMac (800Mhz G4)

Or, a 686 emualted processor on my 1.33Ghz PowerBook. What the heck is that?

Well, I guess I'm one of the very few who don't need/want a PowerMac. I've never really liked the PM G5, and I've always known that I'd never own one.

So, it's a loaded 20" iMac G5 for me...and if anyone would buy my G4 iMac and G4 iBook I could go get this baby NOW.

I think I would pick up a loaded 15" Powerbook. It's the perfect mix of portable and practical. Or something.

Though the 20" imac has caught my eye....

20" G5 iMac 1.5gb ram
15" 1.25mhz pb 1.5gb ram
1st gen 5gb iPod
2nd gen 20gb iPod
Airport Extreme Base Station
Airport Eppress for mobility

Why wish for what you can't have? As soon as that iMac comes in I'm going to be one happy camper.

Subtotal $16,498.00

2.5 all the way

How could you think of anything else but the top of the range- when price is not an issue?

Bring on dual 2.5s until we have something bigger. Size counts!

What a useless thread... I need to post too. :D

I'd take a 1024 pc. xserve cluster with... ehm...

I guess I'd take what everyone wants.
Dual 2,5 loaded with 2 30" displays, a loaded 12" pb(which I have) and an xserve RAID with 50 Terrabytes to store music, movies, music videos, TV shows and everything else that isn't important.

Lucky me I already have 1/3 of my wishlist.

It's just too sad that it only makes up only about 1/20 of the total cost.

I would buy 1 billion Xserve's( The ultimate thingy) with
8GB of ram
750GB HD(3x250)
combo drive
rack enclosures
app for parts
app for Xserve

To access the supercluster I would get

dual 2.5 Ghz G5
8 GB ram
500GB HD(2x250)
6800 ultra
2x30" displays
Wireless keyboard
Final cut Express Pre installed
Keynote pre installed
32 40 GB ipod's(got to listen to my 1250 GB of music):D
.Mac
APP for Pmac and displays.

What I have now:
G5 DP2.5
2.5 GB RAM
160GB HD
80GB HD (10kRPM SATA)
500GB IEEE1394b RAID-0
Radeon 7000 (PCI)
GeForce 6800 U (Currently a 9600 :()
Miglia TV tuner DVR PCI
NEC 20" viewable CRT flat Screen
Sony 18" viewable CRT
27" TV (which functions as a 3rd, albeit crappy monitor)

What I'd add if I had money to burn:
2 More GB RAM (for 4.5 total)
Radeon 9200 (take out the 7k and add it)
One of these (30" monitor with better contrast ratio than Apple's, I'd replace the TV with that)
Another NEC 20" viewable CRT flat screen (to replace the sony).
HDTV/Digital Cable Tuner card (I donno if they exist but I'd replace my miglia with it if it did)

[Edit: well hell, if I had the money I'd BUY Apple, force them to put a decent video card in the iMac G5 and get one of those, plus I'd buy 10 quadrillion Xserve G5s.. it'd take the entire GDP of the industrialized world like 50 years but I WANT IT]

Well, I just ordered this:
Dual 2.5 GHz G5
1.5 GB RAM
250GB HDD
9600XT
WiFi
BT

I have a 19" Samsung 191T at home, so I need one more. And I also ordered 1GB for my powerbook, it's an old 667 from about two years ago but I really don't want to sell it. :)

I guess if money wasn't a concern I'd add more RAM, a new iPod, better card and two 30" displays (do they need a 6800 each?). I'd also have an XServe and an XServe RAID in a half height rack next to my desk, you know, just for messing around.

But then again, if money wasn't an issue, I'd probably buy a whole lot of other things too! :D

twin 30" displays need one 6800 card

if i was getting a g5 i'd get 3 pci radeon 9200's and connect 6x 23" displays to go 3 one each side of my twin 30" monsters :D:D:D:D:p

and maybe 3x xserve raids for crazy raid stripe speed

Well, if I had $29,374,536.06, I'd buy 999 Dual 2.5 PowerMac G5's with 999 of every accessory available! And check out my promo savings of $199,800!!!! Sweeet!!! :p
