iPhone personally, due to the portability.

I do have some friends that have "dumb" phones, but really want an iPad and have no desire for an iPhone.

Reason being, there "dumb" phone is good enough for them on the go. And most of all for 2 reasons, you have the bigger screen yet, more portable than a laptop, and you can get wifi only ,so no data plan to pay for every month.

while I love having both, I would have to say iPhone because ts truly with me 24/7... the iPad is always near by but the iPhone is the work horse while the iPad is only wifi. but I have been thinking about this a lot lately because ia m curious about the new ipad( I have the original) and what the new iPhone will have to offer( I have the 4 with Verizon)

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

I would choose the iPhone. Definitely.

iPad is pointless. Tablets are between phones and laptops, they don't have a place in the industry.
Not true for me. I have stopped taking my laptop on business in and out of town now that I have my iPad tricked out for work and a wireless keyboard.

iPhone and iPad are different devices that do different jobs for me. Both essential.

Definitely iPhone. I have an iPhone, ipad2, Xoom, and razr. If I had to get rid of two it would be the iPad and Razr.

iPad. Although I use the iPhone more, reasonable alternatives exist. I don't think the same is true yet for the iPad.

No one every TALKS anymore with Texting/iMessage or BBM, E-Mail, Facebook, Twitter, Forums, etc.

I would pick the iPad (3G/LTE) because of it.

iPhone. I need something which allows me to call and text people, fit in my pocket, easy to take around and what not.

To me the iPad is nothing, don't have the need for one in any way possible.

Yeaaah, but these are all things you can do with the iPhone as well, and it's far more portable.

My iPhone is pretty much front and center when I'm not at home or in the office. It's always in my pocket and always easy to get to. And it's the device that all my other things (MacBook Pro and iPad) connect to via Personal Hotspot to get internet access if there's no WiFi available. There was a time when I had to do without my iPhone for a week, and I definitely felt the loss.

The iPad is nice and I appreciate having it, but if I had to part with it, it wouldn't be the end of the world.

So for me, definitely the iPhone.
