Hi all,
I don't own a mac pro as it's too expensive for me, but I would like to at least have my pc look like one, so I decided to call the local Apple Service in my country in Eastern Europe to ask if they sell spare parts for the Mac Pro, particualrly the case. They said they can sell the case, but they need the serial number from my mac pro.
Sadly, not owning one, I have to somehow get a hold of a mac pro serial number so I can buy the damn thing.

You could go on ebay and look for some cases there, but I doubt you'll find any mac pro cases, you'll find some powermac g5 cases.

I bought my MP in Cali just a month ago, carrying it as hand-luggage while taking it to Italy by plane (what a fun experience!:D :apple: )

It was the standard 2.66-x1900-bt/ap-1gb-250, but I ordered 4GB of additional Ram from macramdirect.com, topping up to a total of 5GB.
Still undecided on which hard disks buy yet (Raptor or not).

I also installed Win Vista 64bit Ultimate, no video editing for me. I pretty much use Aperture and occasionally PhotoshopCS3.
I like its speed, its low noise, its possibility of upgrading, and the tons of Ram&HD slots. Last but not least, I also like the form factor and the easy way it could be opened.
;)

I have a Quad Core 2.66 GHz Mac Pro. This is my first Mac, and about my 20th personal computer. I love this thing. It leaves everything else in the dust, including the Dual Core (Smithfield) Dell box now consigned to the family room. I use it primarily to process HD Video (iMovie HD so far) and pictures (Aperture). It chews through very large HD files without skipping a beat, even while I have iTunes and other programs open.

The Max OS is plain and simple just a joy to use. Like going from my first car years ago (in which I had to carry a tool box and make 1 or 2 repairs along the way) to a brand new Lexus. I can't believe I took this long to switch.

I like the Mac Pro so much that I followed it up with a MacBook Pro (you asked about Mac Pro notebooks -- I think what you mean is MacBook Pro, which isn't a Mac Pro but is the top-of-the-line Mac laptop). It is not as fast as the Mac Pro, obviously, but even it can fairly handily process HD video, just takes a while.

4-core 2.66GHz Mac Pro
ATI X1900XT 512MB graphics card
4GB RAM
250GB Hard Drive
Superdrive

I absolutely love it, but not sure it's fair for me to compare it to anything else made by Mac. It's the first Mac I've ever owned.

I own a Mac Pro Quad 3.0 with 5gb ram and XT1900 card and 30" ACD.

Not very happy with the computer. I spent around 7000 and I feel on constant guard that it is going to freeze and I am going to have to do a hard restart. The ACD has 1 pixel horizontal line randomly on screen and small red dots. Sometimes, the ACD wont turn on, it flashes the light three times and I have to cycle the power a few times to show the image.

Is it fast? Sure, I guess. Maybe my hopes were high, I switched from my PC to avoid crashing and it seems that I am in the same boat. I am hoping Leopard fixes my issues.

Hi, your situation is not as it should be. Your machine should be fast'n smooth. And your ACD too
Why don't you open a new thread with your concerns and see if the guys here can help you get your machine in tip-top condition. As a new Mac user you can always use some advice.
