Huh? They deliver, ON or BEFORE the date - and no later. I've always pre-ordered.
Pre-ordering is heaps better than camping out at a store ...
It's going to depend on several factors. For one thing they will get shipped direct from China. Also it depends on the volume of pre-orders and how many have got their pre-order in before you. You might get it a day early or you might get it a day or two after the 14th. It all depends on when they start shipping them out. It would be quicker to get one from a local store assuming they have enough stock.
Exactly. I always pre-order, the only thing is you need to be home, but you would be camping out in line anyway so you may as well be in the comfort of your own home.
Me, I'm telecommuting these days anyway so no worries. I will be home working when my iPhone 4S arrives.
I pre-ordered the 3gs from the ATT store and had it shipped to the store and was able to pick it up at 7am on launch day. I pre-ordered the 4 at the same ATT store and had it shipped to my house and it came via FEDEX on launch day around 3pm. Both pre-orders were simple, I'm not sure why/how people end up waiting in long lines on launch day or end up having to wait weeks to get the phone. Go to an ATT store and preorder it on Friday and you'll get your phone on launch day.
Apple offers a print-out that you can put on the door if you aren't there. Very convenient. They should offer this for iPhone purchases as well.

Can you have it sent to your work or does it need to be shipped to your billing address?
Wonder what that means.. Deliveries starts on 14th means, people will get their device starting 14th.. OR by 14th.. OR they will start their process on 14th and actual delivery to customer will happen few days later??

There's no need to bump a thread after fifteen-minutes, especially when it has already been answered several times.
If you pre-order at the very first moment, the phone will most likely arrive on or even before the official launch date, given previous releases.
