Look how hideous my screen is - this issue needs to be sorted immediately!

I can't believe Apple allow screens to go in their devices looking like this!

Apple clearly went downhill with Steve's passing. I mean look, compare this to the gorgeous screen on my iPod Touch 2nd Gen:

Clearly the screens on the new iPad are of inferior quality than we are used to from Apple - as proven in these images.

This thread title should be renamed to "let me make sure that if you weren't a neurotic asstard before then I will help you join my cult of freaks who can't simply enjoy their new device."

Seriously, it is amazing how ****ing crazy people can be. Apple finally gives users what they've been bitching about for a year + and now all they do is sit around trying to find a defect. While some have issues, it is not nearly as widespread as you may think.

I am gonna play devils advocate and ask for pics of these so called "issues" I mean if they are so different that people will think everything's perfect then it's not a issue is it?

But my request is a serious one. What do these issues look like?

I see what you did there. But to me your iPad screen is quite pink in the corner, just like mine. Sorry. My iPad 2 exhibited no discoloration.

I didn't do anything, that's a picture taken with my iPhone 4 of my 3rd gen iPad with an iBook on the screen, and my old 2nd gen iPod touch with a black image on the screen, any discolouration you see in the picture is emphasised, the ipod screen does not look quite that bad to the naked eye (I used it for years with no problems, and now my sister uses it with no issues) and my iPad shows no signs of discolouration to the naked eye.

Clearly showing that the screens Apple are using in the iPad are far superior to that which they have used in the past.

I will admit, I've seen (a small amount of) images showing a yellow warmer screen temperature, to which I would agree about return it, but the pink and green hues upon tilting the device, or taking a picture are due to the way light refracts, I posted in another thread showing how all LCD displays demonstrate the same thing, most a lot worse than the iPad, and the only way to prevent it is OLED or AMOLED.

Edit: here's my other post. https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/14650641/

Everybody's eyes are slightly different and some people pick up this tinting more than others (much like a camera will emphasise it) I'll agree that some panels will probably demonstrate it more than others as no 2 are exactly alike, but you're never going to find one that doesn't display it at all.

I have to agree with you here. My iPad 2 also has a very slight pink tint but you have to tilt it quite a bit to see it so it never became an issue. I had to return 3 white new iPads that had varying degrees of pink tints. While at the Apple Store, I spotted a really pink one from about 10 feet away and it was bad. No matter which angle I looked at it, it was PINK.

As a photography enthusiast, I am much more aware of tints and color balance. And that is a double edge sword. On one hand, I truly appreciate the technical achievement of the Retina display. But I also see it's flaws almost instantly, whether it's pink, green, yellow, etc. I am waiting out the panel lottery for now and will reconsider my purchase in the months to come.

They never will. They're stubborn, blind fanboys who have either accepted their defective screen for what it is or don't know that they're looking at a defect.

Those of us with bad screens have all posted them. Everyone claiming that they have a perfect screen refuses to.

actually, a few people have posted very nice looking screens, and they aren't the people getting all huffy about it. for whatever reason, the people most adamant that anyone who sees a defect is crazy are the ones not posting photos. the photo above does show a decent screen, but I do see variation in color that some may or may not find bothersome.

truth be told nikos, as someone who is extremely sensitive to color shift in normal usage, and absolutely convinced that the discoloration issues are more widespread than people are noticing or willing to admit, your video is not helping the cause. showing the ipad with a black screen at an oblique angle in a black room is simply asking too much of your ipad. even I think this.

I'll post my screen later hopefully. I'm not saying "perfect" but I am saying within what I believe crappy LCD tech will look like in most cases.

Perhaps it wasn't the best way to show it, but the video does show a good amount of pink while I'm in the app store and on facebook. Perhaps I should post a follow up video.

Agreed. The video shows an absurd scenario.

But the issue itself is very real, and I speak from personal experience. I'm not very "OCD" about my decides, but it's clear that my iPad has the whole pink/green tint issue even when I'm looking straight at the screen. And this is on a white background.

This.

Also, this thread needs to be Wastelanded for it's stupidity.

No complaints here! (except that I keep cutting my finger)

Nice "photo" thread "If you think your iPad 3's screen is perfect, please attach a photo." with 2 sites of comments and only one real iPad picture. Incredible!
