Apple is strictly releasing a prototype consumer product this year and will naturally "perfect" the design next year by re-releasing the iPhone X with touchID embedded into the screen and the notch completely removed for a uniform screen.
Ok, nice.. But, where are all the sensors going to?

So now they have to figure how to put touchID under the screen, but most amazingly, they have to figure how to put all cameras and sensors under the display (easy) while still functional (not so easy)

Can you tell us some iphone X+1 leaks that you know?

Uh...

The 4 has cellular problems (4S fixed)
The 5's paint job was extremely fragile to the point of hilarity (fixed with "space gray" in 5s)
The 6 had touchgate (6S fixed)

Typically Apple doesn't hit it out of the park with their first phones after a major design change, it takes them a while to perfect it. My 7+ is the most solid iPhone I've ever had and I believe that to be because it's the third year it's had the relatively same design, and the process is extremely mature. Hope adding glass to the 8+ doesn't affect it too much.

6S had tsmc/samsung chip "gate"

I consider that to be just panic, all A9 devices ive seen and had work perfectly, it was done mostly to reduce cost. With two suppliers Apple could push each down for a cheaper price. Might not have made sense at first, but look at how many devices Apple has running the A9 right now, and I'm willing to bet whoever it is that manufactures the majority of them for Apple now that demand is down is giving a -good- price, on a still relatively very fast processor.

Touchgate however, that crap is about as close to planned obsolescence I've seen.

I agree. What used to be S models were always the best phones to buy if you don't need a new design right away. They always have the biggest internal bumps also, I'm expecting the X1 to have 4GB Ram

Technology always moves forward, this is obvious. Should we hold up for next years X because the one after will be better? Buy what you want, when you want, and enjoy it.

That was paranoid-gate, not a real gate. The product worked exactly as advertized, no matter what chip you got. Some basic 'tests' showed one or the other being the fastest depending on which direction the air blew locally. It was hilarious.

I am curious. Where do you propose they move the speaker and cameras currently in the notch?

Apple is ALL about branding. That notch is a genious move when it comes to that. In the years to come, everyone will recognize it as an iPhone, while the front of all other phones will be all screen and look the same.

Speculation at best, The same thing argument was made with the 2016 MBP, and Apple did not make any changes to the battery or features to that laptop for 2017

Meh. Not going to get the X anyway even before the keynote (never buy a first revision of Apple product).

2018, we will probably see a regular iPhone with both FaceID and TouchID, and the same edge to edge display. Apple does this all the time.

Remember the first MacBook Air? It was hobbled with heat issues, slow hard drive, and the dreaded hatch to get access to the sole USB port. Yet Jobs said it's the way future consumer notebooks will be. Then we got the redesign of the MacBook Air which becomes DE facto standard of any ultrabooks. Sounds familiar?
