Buy a used lawn mower that works well (one pull start when cold), weed eater and other basic gardening tools. Then start your own business mowing lawns and light landscaping. You get to choose your own hours, make more money than an entry level retail job, receive plenty of exercise and get to be your own boss.

We have to have more context as to where you will go to school and what types of jobs there are.

I went to University of London so I was lucky to find a job at KFC nearby on the graveyard shift for pin money. If you are going to uni in a remote location, it may not be nearly as easy.

I live in the states now and from my experience, American employers don't value education as much and almost all of the time they will schedule you right at the time when you have a class and won't give a damn. At least you don't have a whole mindset of a nation so anti-education so you could find a day job who will accommodate your school schedule. If for some reason things have changed drastically towards the worse to how many employers value education, you can find a PT day job, but you will always be safe with a graveyard shift job or late evening job such as bussing tables.

Where there is a will, there is a way. At least you are not trying to save up for a car so it shouldn't take that long to have the money for a Mac. Good luck.

How about asking your parents to pay you some extra cash to do jobs around the house that don't typically get done, but need doing. You know like:

- clean out the roof gutters
- wash the windows
- detail/clean the car(s)
- shampoo the carpets
- organize/clean the garage/attic (you may find some old stuff to sell while doing this one)
- Trim trees/bushes in the yard

You can actually make a business out to this by going door to door to people in your neighborhood and just ask "hey do you have any odd jobs that you really don't want to do that you would be willing to pay me a fair price for?"
