Would you do it now, or would you wait until the 8 comes out? I have no issue with my aluminum series 7, but I know I want to switch to SS. I’m trying to be patient because I feel like if I make the switch now, there will be something on the 8 I’ll want.

The 8 could bring the redesign they've been talking about for some time now. I would think this year there will be some notable improvements that make this year a definite upgrade year.

On the other hand, I hate waiting for the next thing around the corner and just get what I want when I want it if its within my means.

What would be the benefit? Is it just to change the case material? I would not replace the watch just for that. But if it's a cellular upgrade that you're going for too, then maybe that makes a little more sense.

Without knowing the background, I'd wait for sure.

Yeah, mainly. I really like the full screen, and regret not getting SS.

If they change the design to the more flat edges, I definitely wouldn’t want it - not a fan of it on the phones, and definitely wouldn’t want to wear it - but at that point I‘m sure I could still buy a 7 in SS.

Wait for the 8, I bought my SS since the series 4, before that I changed watches every year because the screen had always scratches and now I plan to upgrade every 2 years with SS. The screen is almost indestructible and no scratches, and IMHO the watch looks a little bit elegant because the shiny material.

I made the switch from alu to ss last month. Had some scratches on the glass without knowing where they came from. With my OCD I’m very careful and didn’t hit anything.

So I did made the switch to the graphite SS 45mm.

I do this a lot myself, but I am trying to hold off.
I know what you mean. ??

That stainless steel though. ?

I’d definitely wait for the series 8 if you can, not long to go now.

In the middle of several books.
Stacey,
Did you purchase an SS model in the past and returned it? I could have sworn I read that you did.

If you plan on upgrading your watch every year or two, (because of new features you want) it doesn't make sense to spend the extra money on the SS model, as there is no real benefit in doing so over the aluminum model.

I just purchased the Gold SS & Milanese band, I love it! Hubby got the red version-which is amazing!

Go for it! (I came from a ceramic 5).

I don't think Apple will be changing the design right after the refresh with the S7. The flat edge rumors are possibly for a new model (a rugged watch is rumored) or a new SE.

If you already have an S7 and it works at it should, I'd definitely wait for the S8 before upgrading. I have a Gold SS myself, so I understand why you'd want to jump on this material, but I think that you'll regret it if you don't wait next September (except if you find a very good deal for a SS S7). Half a year and you're there!

Wait, didn’t you purchase one and returned it because you felt that ss is too heavy for you?

But anyway, I think you should wait

I'll be the dissenter here: I would buy now. The S7 is already a highly refined version of the original Apple Watch, so I suspect it will still serve you well after an S8 is introduced (which we're assuming will happen this year as it has in the past, but there's certainly no guarantee that will be the case). In addition, why let Apple's release dates control your purchasing decisions, especially when buying now means you can enjoy it that much longer?

I am also in the dame boat. I got my SO a 41 ss and it’s so nice! Makes my s5 titanium look cheap. Plus it looks classy. If I can get a used one for 500 I’d buy it maybe when 600. I wonder what the upgrades will be for the s8 model… but ss definitely looks awesome.

I’m liking this thinking. I highly doubt there will be a redesign but my Question is the features. Maybe better battery life or maybe apple will stick with the 18 hr battery given then stuck with the 10 hr iPad battery. Apple gets stuck in its line of thinking and doesn’t necessarily want to adjust.

I did, but mainly because I couldn’t justify it after just buying the regular 7. I haven’t been able to quit thinking about how much I love the look of it though - it just looks so good with all the bands.

And that’s part of my reason for making myself wait now - so I can get a design I’m really happy with and hold onto it 2-3 years. I know with SS I’ll have to do that to make it worthwhile.

I definitely felt it was noticeably different in weight, but thinking I will get used to that. It wasn’t my main reason for returning at the time.

You definitely have a point. I guess I’m just thinking if they would make big battery improvements by some chance, or have some upgrade that’s really great, I’d likely regret not waiting.

The main reason I got to thinking about it this year is because I really love the display, and I’m not interested in a design change, so I know I wouldn’t want the 8 if they went that direction, but I like the idea of having the most updated version if indeed they would go that direction a year or two later.
