I personally think the S8 launch will be all about the new „rugged“ version. Other than that, we have zero rumours about new sensors and battery will be the same as it always was. What we will probably get is a faster chip (as we have every other Watch generation lately), but the S7 chip is pretty fast already. All in all, I wouldn‘t wait. The steel body just elevates the Watch look immensely.

Well, you definitely won’t be disappointed with the ss but why not just wait for another 6 more months. By then, if you don’t like the s8, you can always get the s7 ss. ??

I definitely felt it was noticeably different in weight, but thinking I will get used to that. It wasn’t my main reason for returning at the time.
Check out the titanium whenever you decide to renew. Its a little bit more though totally worth it to me.
I came from SS Black to Titanium back at S5 and love the brushed finish and its in-between both Aluminum and SS in weight.

I need the virtually indestructible (to me) glass and finish both provide etc. I wear it when I work unloading trucks 4 hours a night each. Having about 20 Apple bands (all Apple) and use like 6 to rotate just for work as they get marked up overtime. But the Finish on watch itself and the glass has been outstanding never getting a mark.
Even under pretty good inspection.

That said I'd still wait till end of summer. Especially if you don't sell it and update yearly.
I never wore a watch in my life, now I feel naked if its not on my wrist :)

PS: Louisiana?

Titanium is what I'm considering next too - for those same reasons.

You won't regret it. In the course of my job it gets banged around a bit. I do sell it each year privately around late August early Sept but all that aside I never ever got a mark that I could see. I use a magnifying glass with light attached that I used to clean sensor on my DSLR to look for marks.

I couldn't live with aluminum because of that. Now that said my first Black SS which was S4 didn't get a mark either. But when they did away with black instead opting for another dark shade I decided to Look at Titanium as it still had Black. I'd never consider anything else now.
Just another man's opinion nothing more.

My aluminium is space black and just passed the 12 month mark without a scratch, though based on other comments I've read it seems that I've been exceptionally lucky. (I've that the Aluminium will scratch if you breathe on it ?) But all the same - I don't like Apple's current aluminium colours and since I'm considering an unactivated cellular version for my next watch I'd rather take the Titanium over SS. As you said - lighter weight.

But who knows what the S8 will bring. Especially with the rugged rumours. It'll be interesting.

You definitely have a point. I guess I’m just thinking if they would make big battery improvements by some chance, or have some upgrade that’s really great, I’d likely regret not waiting.

The main reason I got to thinking about it this year is because I really love the display, and I’m not interested in a design change, so I know I wouldn’t want the 8 if they went that direction, but I like the idea of having the most updated version if indeed they would go that direction a year or two later.
Definitely don't make a purchase you know you'll regret later. But we never know for sure when or if tech features will be upgraded, and there is a limit to what can be done with battery life. Also, meaningful upgrades tend to slow down considerably with mature products, which the Apple Watch is at this point. Speaking just for myself, I value refinement over new features when it comes to the Watch, and I feel like the S7 is very refined.

My first watch was black S3 aluminum and after a week they let me return for S4 black SS. The aluminum was already lightly nicked from sticking my hand in to get the mail and hitting along sides of metal box.

You are really lucky and I’ve met others whose Aluminum Watchs look perfect to me too.

I don't think Apple will be changing the design right after the refresh with the S7. The flat edge rumors are possibly for a new model (a rugged watch is rumored) or a new SE.

Maybe for the rugged version. I would bet my life on the fact that the SE will not be getting any new redesigns. There’s no way Apple will spend the money on a redesign for their budget watch. It gets old hardware just like the iPhone SE.

I’ll eat my words if I’m wrong. But I strongly doubt it.

The titanium is definitely nice, but I like the finish of the SS because it goes with, and looks so good with, so many of the bands due to many having stainless lugs/hardware.

I’ve honestly not had an issue with any of my aluminum watches, but I have always loved the look of the SS.

But yeah, since I just upgraded my iPP to a 12.9, and had to buy that keyboard, the watch is on the backburner til fall. ;-p

Yes, Louisiana. You?
