He may have been thinking more along the lines of they're not good 'kid cars'. I'm looking at an f-body personally because of the back seat, granted not a great back seat, it adds some room.

F Bodies man? Avoid that **** like the plague if your looking for a DD.

----------

Still its not that much for what your getting, if it was a european car you could add another 0 to that price. I wouldnt encourage anyone not to have kids in order to buy a corvette, sure they're nice cars but they arent that special.

I love my Corvette, however I have been considering selling it, and spending some more money on a used 360 Spider, though it wouldn't be as daily driveable, and any type of breakdown = rape

Not looking for a DD lol

I have an 04 Monte Carlo that is solid as can be. I just want a fun car. I already know just about all the pros and cons of the f-bodies... cat bump, engine under cowl, doors cracking, etc.

They're a good base car to start with and build and I just love the look of a WS6 since my dad had his haha

For how much money a really good one costs with low miles, you can do better.

They are just so horrible to drive as well, horrid suspension, nasty interior full of nasty plastics, TERRIBLE seats, the dashboard is nasty nasty, the rear ends are junk and go all the time, and the wheel bearings go all the time to.

They are fun, but to a point. You can do better with the 12,000 youd spend on one.

That being said, the only good Camaros made were made from 1967-1969 and then from 2010-

It's usually people with HID kits in non-projector housings that do it. They're decent if they're aimed correctly, but there's so much light it bounces all over.

Yokels here install HID kids into fog light housings. Now that is painful - you can feel your retina burning...

Also, using fog lights in clear weather in some countries is a violation of laws. Technically one could be fined for that (rarely happens AFAIK).

What would you recommend? It would be gone through fully, new exhaust, suspension, probably build the engine from the ground up.

I know how the interior is, I agree it's bad, but when cleaned up it's not horrible. Still does feel a bit 'fake'.

I've been one to have HID's in fog light housings lol, no longer do I have them in there, but I have before. Light output was awesome, but that just means I was blinding others.

They come on automatically and I'm unsure that I've ever bothered to turn them off. I think those idiots who have the HID lights installed incorrectly resulting in blinding oncoming drivers pretty much distracts from the fact that my fog lights are on all of the time.

I never thought I was "being cool" or trying to be "cool" when driving with them on though. In fact, I'm pretty certain I am far from cool with or without fog lights.

For 12,000. If your after " fun " rather than " Power! ", I would go with a nice used Honda S2000, I had one for years before I bought the Vette, still one of the best cars I've ever driven. Or for 12,000, you can get yourself a tidy SVT Cobra Mustang with the Supercharged 4.6 and Independent rear suspension, much nicer car to drive, with a way better interior.

Ride is much softer, handles better, less body roll, feels much more composed and the interior is made out of much softer plastics compared to a 4th gen F body

I'm honestly not a huge Honda fan, if I ever bought one it would be for reliability to drive to Minnesota State every weekend from Milwaukee to watch my brother play football lol

Oh I should add I'm 6'7", that makes S2000 a little difficult haha and Mustangs are a bit tight for me. F-bodies are slightly better, but not by much. I was thinking C5 as well, but I would like the rear seat in case it's ever needed.

I'm looking for something that will be a pretty much straight line car, fast and easy to mod. So IRS isn't a big deal although it would be nice. I'll still do plenty of research before purchasing though.

This car is what kind of has me hooked on a WS6 (my roommates fully built all motor LS1):

People who drive around with their fogs on when it's not even foggy are absolute idiots. It is illegal in the UK, so, it infuriates me whenever I see ignorant people with them on.

The most annoying thing when it comes to driving, though, is when people don't indicate off their exit on a roundabout. I wish there was a sniper tower at every roundabout, ready to shoot anyone who doesn't comply by the laws of the road. There would be a lot less occurrences if that was the case!

I guess I'm an absolute idiot and am ignorant.

I should be shot.

...Shoot me!

I wouldn't buy a normal Honda, but I LOVED my S2000. Super run to attack the bends and back roads with, an F-body would be all over the place in the same situation.

That's true, I'm 6'4" but I found the S2000 pretty easy to fit in, same with mustangs.

A C5 is not a very worthy investment imo, older C6s aren't a whole lot more expensive and are way better.

Then an F-body is the way to go if your on a budget. Straight line speed doesn't really matter to me, hence why I bought a Corvette instead of a Camaro or a Mustang, or any other big heavy car lol. I like a car that can handle.

Ever driven a car that can really handle? its a blast.

I do love the straight lineness that my vette can pull off, I love it when a F Body or Mustang comes up next to me with a CAI and a intake and is like " I'm faster than that Overpriced **** ".

I've seen VERY few of any of the above with rear fogs. It's possible they may be present within the tail light lens and need to be activated via coding, but I assure you they simply aren't present on 99.9% of American market vehicles. If they are within what looks like a reflector lens, again they need to be activated with coding.

Not present in 99.9% of American market vehicles? Dead wrong. I have had 4 Mercedes Benz models, and 2 Volvo models all with rear fog lights that are integrated into the tail light assembly. Not a single one of them needed coding either, just a simple switch on the dash.

If my car had fog lights, I'd have them on. It just looks better to me, completes the front end as someone else says. I've never encountered blinding front fog lights ever. Now, rear fog lights are a completely different story. Those are blinding af. On Sunday driving back to school, I was behind a Q5 for quite some time. Then he decided to turn on his rear fogs. It literally looks like driving with brake lights on. They're extremely blinding, distracting, and I think dangerous in non foggy conditions.

You bring up good points.

I was looking at C5s and C6s for a while but wanted the rear seat. I am interested to see how their prices change as the C7 comes out and becomes more popular too.

I like a car that can handle too, but an F-body will be an improvement over my Monte Carlo and then I'll get something better than the f-body after that.

My dad had a C5 back in '02 I believe and that things handling was amazing at the time and I believe it's still pretty damn good these days compared to what's available. There's obviously better now with new technology, but that thing was on rails. His WS6 was just a whole different flavor of a beast though. It really depends on what you like in the end.

F-body's can definitely handle what today's cars have to offer with aftermarket, which I love. But sometimes there's just no replacement for displacement as I think you notice with those teens and their CAI'd F-bodies lol

I have an 03 Durango and I drive with them on. It has nothing to do with looking cool, it has to do with maximum visibility. Same idea behind daytime running lights.

I only use them in foggy days. However some people use them to look cool. In a clean day, it harms the eyes. Also, it's not allowed to use them clean days in Turkey. IDK the situation in other countries.

I had them..

I have a lifted Chevy 2500HD that had fog lights in the bumpers but I striped those out and put in high output 6000K Xenon HID lights in there place. Had to run new wire and refuse to power them.
Really helps light the road.

The C5 will get cheaper, the C6 is likely to retain its value.

Pay those debts first ;) I make really good money, and can afford to waste money on things like sports cars lol, make sure you pay off your debt before you do.

C5s are great value for the money, but I find them ugly personally, same with F Bodies. Both of which my Grand Sport leaves behind on the track fairly easily, unless your talking real heavy mods.

I would seriously consider the 2003 SVT Mustang, they are just as fast in a straight line as any FBody, respond to mods very well, handles so much better, more composed. And has a much nicer interior, and sounds better to

Looks better ;)

They can, but they are pretty maintenance intensive, but can be lots of fun. I doubt I'll ever enjoy how they look tho. They aren't old enough to be " cool " like my TR6, and aren't new enough to be new.

I find that F-Bodies put WAY to much confidence in 20 year old guys lol. They think a Camaro SS with a Exhaust and intake is somehow going to take down my Grand Sport.

I've often wondered if there is anywhere within reason that I could take my Corvette up to its 195MPH top speed.

Displacement isn't always everything, back when I had my S2000 right out of college, a buddy of mine had a bone stock Camaro Z28, and it didn't really pull ahead of the little 2.2 Liter 9000RPM Honda until about 80ish mph

In California, foglights (two maximum) can be used in conjunction with, but not in substitution of, headlamps.

I was thinking they'd both stay pretty similar to what they are now with minimal drops. But I guess only time will tell.

I plan to pay those debts first, but if I do get a car I'll probably get one with a bit more miles as just a cheaper/fun vehicle, not something that will break the bank by any means haha

As for the Mustang, I just can't do the Mustang thing. Never liked them, never will haha the generation that you posted, just feels cheap to me inside, granted I drove a GT and not an SVT. They just had a bad feeling to me and I felt a bit cramped inside.

As for the f-body, I would plan to go a bit further than exhaust and intake. I would probably do the basics, headers, exhaust, intake, TB, intake mani and live with that for a bit. But then I would like to later do heads up and pull the engine, clean the bay, etc. Pretty much what we did with my buddies WS6.

I know displacement isn't everything, that S2000 probably had about half the weight, better driver, etc. There's far too much that goes into it.

Unfortunately for me I'm pretty stuck on an F-body, but Mustangs all sound great. Not that an LS doesn't, I just don't think you can beat a mustang sound, or multiple cam exhaust for that matter.
