@MacNut any word on what the * next to Scorpion and Life in Pieces means? I'm guessing these are final season shows maybe? Is "Young Sheldon" what I think it is? I'm at work and concerned about searching that particular term, lol...
Don't know what it means. Might be something to do with the Thursday football shift.

Young Sheldon is a single camera spin off of The Big Bang Theory.

Returning shows “Man with a Plan,” “Code Black,” “Elementary,” “The Amazing Race” and “Undercover Boss” will all air later in the season. Two new shows, comedy “By the Book” and drama “Instinct,” are also set for later on.

Grimm was mentioned in the OP, and it is already over - they've had their finale. I really loved that show, and I knew this was the last season, but I will still miss it.

I must have missed it being on the list DOH. I knew this was the last season, we still have a few left on the DVR, this season has been better and I agree it was a good show. I have a feeling the writers didn't know where to take it... But this season has been much better than last season.

Sad to see it go. Actually sat on and met some of the folks at last years Comic Con in San Diego. I think it was last year???

It’s almost shocking how disconnected I’m from US Broadcast television, NBC, ABC, and CBS. I’m only recording and watching one show on one of these networks: Modern Family (ABC). :( Most of what we watch is Cable/internet based: Netflix, FX, SciFi, Amazon Prime, USA Network, Acorn.

There are a few I'll miss, but not surprised about their cancellation. I'm more surprised about some of the shows that survive. If there is a higher power, please PLEASE rid us of reality television!
Seconded! There is potential there, mostly squandered. There should be a set of ground rules that define reality TV, such as an honest portrayal of events, minimal staging along with disclosures about what is staged, no actors or recreations without clearly being disclosed. That said, some shows and concepts could have merit.

I have liked American Pickers although that is somewhat staged. I would be turned off, if every pick session was heavily correagraphed. I loved Pawn Stars until I got the impression it was heavily staged, including the humorous antics of stars. Property Brothers and Love It or List It are enjoyable on the rare occasions I watch them.

Ironically Survivor, a social competition dynamic in theory could be a cool idea, but I did not watch it, because I was turned off by the premise, not survival or winning a group competition where the group wins, say against another group, but winning by backstabbing your way to the top. It was too negative for me.

Most retched, The Real Housewives from Anywhere!

So, ABC announced a kids version of Dancing with the Stars, and they are also reviving American Idol.

Ok here is the full renewed list.
Here is a list of TV shows renewed through 2017-18, and in some cases longer than that. It includes broadcast and cable shows renewed beyond the 2016-17 season as well as cable series and summer broadcast shows whose next cycles will come before the official start of the 2017-18 season.

“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (FOX)

Brooklyn Nine-Nine was actually cancelled by Fox, then shopped around (Hulu came up quite a bit), but ultimately saved by NBC (gave it a 13 EP next season) who originally sold the show to Fox. We don't watch much traditional network TV programming, but NBC has had some pretty smart comedies in the past several years. including the _best_ 1/2 hour non-animated comedy on TV, The Good Place (it's just incredible how smart and well written it is vs. other network "comedies"). The interesting connection is B99, The Good Place, and NBC's other terrific comedies like Parks and Rec, The Office, all have had Mike Shur involved (writer/dir on the latter, creator/writer/prod on the first 3).

NBC will always be an anomaly/outlier in network programming for running Hannibal, what a beautiful, dark, twisted series, so shocking it was run on a traditional network (it would've been pushing it on a cable network!)

My Twitter feed blew up Friday night at the announcement that Lucifer (Fox) had been cancelled. The cast were all posting and there were photos (like this one). They also just found out.

I hope another network picks it up.

I read an article earlier that was disgusted that Big Bang Theory was renewed (I thought it had a multi-year renewal recently that went beyond this year) but B99 wasn't. I'm not sure the person writing the article or the people tweeting that the article was written in response to are aware that those are on different networks and renewal of one was not tied to discontinuation of the other.

I didn't know what B99 was, so googled it, and it has been picked up by NBC for next year.

Right, it has now (and was discussed above, I grabbed the abbreviation from the earlier discussion). I never watched it, it wasn't my kind of show. It hadn't at the time the article was written, or it was written in anger that any network would choose to cancel it even if another picked it up.
