I know allot of people are happy with AT&T. I saw a poll on this site last week that asked if people would switch and there was a huge amount that said no, they would stay with AT&T.

Another site I was on showed a large number of people willing to move. It all depends on the audience.

Several polls I've read show about 23% would migrate. Of course perhaps not all of them would actually follow through. It's one thing to answer in a poll that you would and another to actually follow through.

Let's just throw a stick in this wheel.

If it actually exists and happens, IT IS FACT. If there are a bunch of Chinese workers working hard every day working on getting these phones ready to market, then it exists and is real and IS FACT. Doesn't matter if you know about it or not...still fact.
Per the definition of "fact":

fact (fækt) [Click for IPA pronunciation guide]
—n
1. an event or thing known to have happened or existed
2. a truth verifiable from experience or observation
[...]
[C16: from Latin factum something done, from factus made, from facere to make]

As you cannot verify its truth and you do not know if it has happened or exists, it is not fact until it is announced.
Just sayin'. ;)

That's what I was trying to say. And I'm not worried about Verizon. I happen to enjoy AT&T. I don't know if that will be true when I move back to Oklahoma. But I have no complaints about them and will not move to Verizon.

Sure, but polls also show that almost 1/4 of current iPhone users would switch away to Verizon.

A lot of those are probably people who only went ATT just to get the iPhone, but have reasons to go back to Verizon (family, friends, coverage).

In a few years, as contracts end, such unusual churn should stabilize.

It's convenient to find definitions on the web that make words fit your purpose.

Here, I'll do the same:

fact   /fækt/ Show Spelled
[fakt] Show IPA

–noun
1. something that actually exists; reality; truth: Your fears have no basis in fact.

Keep in mind, just because the WSJ can't prove it, if it is actually being built, one of the workers making it could prove it. Just because they haven't come forward makes it no less a fact.

Like I said, I'm not saying it is fact, but you can't say it's not either. Nobody here knows.

Thanks for proving my point! I appreciate it! :)
You don't know if it actually exists or not. Therefore, it is not fact.
By your logic, little green men live happily on Mars.

EDIT:
Funny, the second part of your definition (also from Dictionary.com) below:
1. something that actually exists; reality; truth [...]
2. something known to exist or to have happened [...]

In any case, it will be fact when and if it's officially announced. Until then, it's simply speculation and a rumor.

Personally I hope V does get the iPhone soon. Just so I can stop hearing about how V is getting the iPhone...

Maybe if enough ATT folks jump ship it'll free up some bandwidth for the rest of us.

Common, I know you're really excited but calling it a fact what some newspaper article posted is nowhere near that:)
Where are those poor chinese workers working on the CDMA iphones? Proof of that would be a fact but what you're saying is just speculation still.
But to be honest with you I believe it is actually going to happen soon finally:)
But untill its announced its still just some good speculation IMO.

If it doesn't happen, it was fiction.

The issue is, none of us know at this time if it's fact or fiction. Anybody who states otherwise is either lying or stupid. (Or involved in the negotiations...but those people wouldn't post here.)

Again I ask why are people who are on Att and have an iPhone so concerned that verizon might get the iPhone. I just don't get it.

So I can't prove your mom exists....so I guess she's merely speculation or a rumor?

Edit: If it exists, Steve Jobs knows this. That satisfies #2.

Edit: NVM...I see you're jerking my chain.

Anyway, yes, I'm a bit excited...but not as excited as I would have been a year ago.

I'm actually more excited to see you admit that it might actually happen. :p

Yes, it is speculation on our part. But if it is true...it is already a fact, we just don't know it yet.

The fact that we dont know and cant prove that it actually exists makes it a rumor:D
But anyway you win, the verizon iphone is real and a fact:D

What part of my statement did you not understand? Where did I state that it truly is fact? Yes, what I am saying is speculation. But it doesn't mean that the Verizon iPhone is ONLY speculation. It could in fact be real...making it's existence fact, that we as a group do not have proof of yet. But proof may exist and if in fact that proof exists, then the Verizon iPhone is in fact.....fact.

But if the Verizon iPhone doesn't truly exist it is fiction.

A fact doesn't need to be proven by you or I, it just needs to be able to be proven. So just because you and I can't prove it, doesn't make it any less real if say Steve Jobs can prove it.

The fact that we dont know and cant prove that it actually exists makes it a rumor:D

Yes, but that doesn't mean someone else can't prove it. Your definition is who holds proof is too narrow. Also, even without proof, it is a fact that certain species of fish existed. We just didn't know or have proof until we had deep see submersibles to find them. But, as a matter of fact, they did exist....despite our ignorance of their existence.

But anyway you win, the verizon iphone is real and a fact:D

I've learned my lesson, I'm not calling it real until we have something more concrete. I'm just playing semantics here picking on the stupidity of the original post.

Pro to Verizon getting the iPhone, better performance for those remaining on AT&T as people leave.

Cons, less incentive for AT&T to improve their network since they've got lower demand...

Personally, I'd rather the exclusive just go away in the US, so people could use iPhones with any carrier, not just AT&T and Verizon...

That would be sweet but more difficult as the 2 major carriers are not same.

One of my friends supposedly is beta testing iPhone4 for Verizon.

He took a screen capture and sent it but that obviously doesn't mean much... since if jailbroken, you can change the carrier that is displayed. However I don't see why he would lie to me about it either... Unfortunately currently he lives way to far away from me to look at it in person.

In any case, I think it's a good thing, especially if one day Apple releases a dual mode (GSM/CDMA) iphone.

Because AT&T sucks ass around here and they sold me a microcell that they refuse to activate because of some issue with their map software and 911. I've considered going back to just a landline because AT&T is entirely unreliable and grossly overpriced. Even better, since I show up on their map as having any reception at all, if I leave I have to pay their ransom. Concerned? No, ecstatic.

I've actually heard it mentioned several times on local news but never with any air of authoritah.

Is Verizon better in your area?

Marc

In New York on business, the mainstream news reported it as fact.
The first thought that came to mind is how wrong these same networks have been when reporting on the International Fortune 500 company I work for. Sadly the "news" is largely a mix of fabrication, guesswork, and story telling.

I do hope they sell it to Verizon though. It will be a good education for those who have no clue, but believe their experts on the way cellular phones operate.
