I currently have a 16" MacBook Pro along with 11" and 13" iPad Pros, and I've got an Indigo 512GB Neo on order. I use the 13" iPad Pro for 'long enough travel to want more than a small tablet, but not long enough to warrant bringing my large 16" MBP with me' and this will become the new device that fills that gap -- sort of a niche use case, but the Neo is cheap and I love the way it looks so I'm force justifying it 🙂. I get frustrated with iPadOS as soon as I'm doing really anything other than basic Safari browsing and video watching, don't love the available viewing angles or small trackpad on the Magic Keyboard, and even with all the iPadOS upgrades over the last few years, it still feels limiting to me. I've long wanted to see a successor to the 11" Air / 12" MB and I think this is effectively the closest we'll get, so I'm excited. I do wish it had 12GB of RAM and MagSafe, but oh well.
The Neo's release is really causing me to re-evaluate what the best device or combination of devices is for my Macs long-term; a Mac mini with a ton of storage at home as the primary Mac and a Neo to take on the go? One device, a smaller 14" MBP that stays docked most of the time but travels a little easier? Or maybe if the rumored OLED Air comes to fruition in a few years it could just be one 13" or 15" Air? Anyway, I'm just thinking out loud. Lots of choices. For now I'll go 16" MBP for the primary / home Mac and long-term travel, Neo for short-term travel and maybe some casual couch type usage, and 11" iPad for flights and things that are best done with a touch screen.
