Ohhhh, I get it now. Opening up a phone that you [supposedly] own is a no-no! This is s job for an Apple Genius. And only an Apple Genius. I think I got it now, thanks.
Opening up your phone and closing it, apart from potentially disturbing the water proof seals, who cares? But if you replace the battery and attempt to sell the phone, all you get is a warning, so buyer beware.

Having known someone who had a phone blow up in their shirt pocket after they tried to replace their own battery... yeah. Call me pro-Apple and anti-consumer or whatever but I think this is a great idea.

Has anyone ever seen the repair jobs done at the mall? I have had several family members go there instead of Apple. They either lucked out and got horrible service or ... it's REALLY noticeable when it is a third party replacement screen/battery. The replacement screen didn't register clicks very well and the battery didn't even last a quarter as long as the OEM Apple battery.

I refuse to buy used when it comes to my tech products because... as someone who spent 20+ years in the IT field ... I know how badly people treat their devices. I'm not going to put a no-name brand battery in something I have on my / near my person.

I'm no pro but I stopped servicing Apple products back in the 4s days for friends/coworkers. Just got too difficult for the average fat fingered guy to do it.

I think this is a good pro-consumer move for Apple. People can make their own decision about the message, but it lets people know the phone was serviced by a third party.

The biggest problem with original apple batteries is the poor quality of late. They not much superior in durabilty to the cheap generics

Samsung has done the complete opposite designing their batteries to withstand allot more charge cycles before they state degrading.

The same applies to Samsung high end handsets. They have become allot more reliable and durable compared to iphone with less " gate" problems.

The latest, Apple refusing to take responsibility for audio gate on the iPhone 7

Then there's the battery gate on macbook pro 15.

The amount of bugs in iOS is ridiculous......

Can you prove that or is this an opinion?

Again do you have a citation for this?

What “gate” issues? And by Samsung reliability do you mean send your photos unsolicited to random contacts?

Ok Samsung had the note 7...

The amount of bugs in iOS is ridiculous......
Really? Not any more than any other platform.

Better support, better hardware, better ecosystem, IMO. Bugs are independent of price. Ask expensive android phones.

Also I have a problem with the so much more statement. What year is this, the year of the original Google Nexus phone? Last I checked the pixels and Samsung phones were pretty close.

Always amuses me when people who don’t like Apple products are on an Apple forum.
