Same, if I was looking for a watch I would go with the SE most likely as the ECG gets old after using it couple of times and the blood oxygen is great but I'd wait till the tech is more mature.
I do suppose it is not for the average healthy bumpkin. I did not upgrade to ECG yet, I have a handheld monitor instead, I could use it during heart events, also the oxygen sensor would be interesting during some periods. I have no idea why anyone with healthy heart function would need it. But hey, I'm old school, I don't need a watch to tell me I didn't get enough sleep, or how much I got (that is simple math, went to bed at x, woke up at y)

I’m bummed it’s going away as well, but I suppose I only really noticed when clearing notifications. You lose it on all models, I believe, if you update to WatchOS 7.
Doesn't long press take the place of force touch?

18 hour battery life still feels really lame, even if that quoted life is on the pessimistic side.
I’ve been on a series 5 since last November and you can get far more than 18 hours of use out of the 44mm...if you turn off always-on. I appreciate having the screen on all the time, mainly during warmer months when I wear short sleeve shirts more often. In cooler months, when I’m wearing long sleeves (shirts, sweaters, jackets, etc.), there is zero reason to have the screen on all time when it’s hidden from view anyway.

Yes on iPhone/iPad ... it doesn't on the watch. For example I believe one of the most annoying changes for a lot of people is the removal of force touch allowing changing the calendar view. Should just replace that with long press. Now you have to go to settings which is a ball-ache

When was the response time ever of anything to be a downfall to Force Touch? If that’s your complaint about Force Touch, then you probably didn’t utilize Force Touch to appreciate its benefit being a shortcut tool for the watch experience. The speed or reaction time is a non-issue in regards to its main purpose for those who Appreciated it’s core functionality.
That's my personal experience. If you love force touch, good for you.

Actually, I'd wager you'd be interested in the sleep analysis as it tells you how much deep sleep vs. light sleep you've gotten etc. and I love the alarm design that can wake you up at the ideal stage of sleep given the time range you choose.

Maybe, but I have no idea how they are rating the 18 hours - way different from other manufacturers. that's for sure. I easily get 2 days on my series 3 with only 83% battery health and I wear it 24/7 to monitor heart rate (health issue). so if 2 full days on an older watch = 18 hours, then what exactly are they trying to measure. It seems they just open themselves up to the torrent of whiners and complainers that are sure to follow.
Here's the methodology: https://www.apple.com/watch/battery/

They don't care about whiners and complainers. They do care about liability. They know the watch can get more than 18 hours. Just spitballin' but 36 hours is probably a more reasonable average. But under promising and over delivering is a recipe for avoiding a potential lawsuit for falsely advertising a hypothetical 36 hours, but averaging 24.

I am glad to see the iFixit tear down so quickly. I wasn’t expecting it so soon. I knew ahead of time the new battery would be a very modest increase. With the watch able to charge faster, I am still happy with my new watch. If I can’t take 20 - 30 minutes a day to charge my watch, I have too much going on, or a lack of organization, or both. I am glad to report that even though I stay pretty busy, I make sure my watch has a good charge before going to bed.

I find the crown and the side button to be much higher quality. The crown click feels much better than my S0, S2, or S5. The side button is also very flush. It feels like the allowed tolerance on the side button was greatly reduced this year and it has a much more seamless and nicer feel as a result.

18 hour battery life still feels really lame, even if that quoted life is on the pessimistic side.

My AW4 LTE has been lasting ~22 hours per day for the past two years. I only take it off to shower and then once per week, give or take, I have to let it charge back to full overnight.

Since installing WatchOS7, the battery has been almost worthless; using not quite 10% per hour.

...What we need the migration away from OLED, and transition to micro LED, which will greatly reduce power consumption, thus providing extended battery life. The S7 should offer some physical changes and possibly a micro LED if Apple has the appropriate suppliers aligned.....

What suppliers are there to choose from? I was under the impression micro LED could not yet be made in either the size and at the scale Apple Watch would require.

Our AW6 are on the way. Our current ones are AW4. Quick question: can the always-on feature that was introduced with AW5 be disabled (e.g. if one wants to eke out a bit more battery life)?

I would like to say that I picked up a watch 6 this weekend, and I almost feel like the battery lasted longer on my every day used 4 year old series 2 than it does with this one. maybe i need to turn the always on display off... i put it on at 6am this morning, its now 5pm and I'm at 60% with little to no use (checking notifications mostly)

yes

I wish they made the case even thinner.
It’s funny, I was going to say that Apple shouldn’t go thinner, but instead go thicker, more like what a mechanical watch dimensions are - then I measured my Seiko Automatic watch and realized the series 5 Watch is almost identical in size (depth and width) to my Seiko. The thing that makes the Watch seem smaller, is the fact that it’s WAY lighter in weight.

That’s the thing I do miss with the Watch, but it also went from being aware of the weight of the watch to now sometimes forgetting the Watch is there (I have the Nike Sport series 5 Watch, so it’s the lightweight aluminum). I’m tempted to upgrade to stainless, but I know it still won’t compare to my Seiko.

It’s starting to the point where I think 18 hours should be improved. Apple increasing the size of the Lithium battery isn’t the answer. What we need the migration away from OLED, and transition to micro LED, which will greatly reduce power consumption, thus providing extended battery life. The S7 should offer some physical changes and possibly a micro LED if Apple has the appropriate suppliers aligned. Apple is stretching the 18 hour battery life as far as it will go, since it’s been offered for six years without any type of higher rating, They‘ve proven they’ve been overly conservative with the battery life without making any real improvements, which I suspect those changes are coming in 2021.
Apple should hire you for their watch strategy. Oh wait, they have a dominant position and understand their customers.

Does the bigger Taptic Engine, mean a more prominent tap ? I find I don't always feel my watch tapping me.....

This may not help you but both the taptic vibrations and sound volume are WAY, WAY, WAY higher in my aluminum S6 vs. my stainless steel S4. the reason this may not help is I know in the past some felt the denser stainless steel made taptic vibrations less prominent and since i switched I'm not sure if I'm experiencing that or a change in the engine itself (or perhaps both combined.)

Given how everything generally moves to solid state, how much longer do you think Apple will continue to fit a phsically rotating dial/wheel, which is like a fake watch spring winder?
You could still have it look the same, but as you rub your finger around it, it detects the movement, so it would seems like it's moving even though it's static.
Do you think they will do this, or simply scrap it altogether perhaps and just run your finger up/down the side of the watch body?

I was experiencing the same issue with my AW4 LTE. I unpaired it from my phone and set it back up again. Took about 10 minutes and now my battery performance is back to normal.

I still do force touch on WOS7, how did they take it away?
It was replaced by a long touch. Pretty much the same though. Although watchOS 7 did away with some of the features that force touch brought. (First thing that comes to mind is pressing to compose a text in messages. Now it does nothing, and you send a message by scrolling to the top and tapping “new message”).

Not worth it to lose force touch. Scrolling to the top to clear notifications takes several more flicks of the finger on bad days. FT was one thing that was innovative and got killed for .3mm of nothingness.
They could have replaced it with a long press. This is so annoying.
