Great idea...what could possibly go wrong with doing your own repair?

Depends on the person. It's really based on experience and knowledge. It's like anything with repair, if you know what your doing, take your time and are confident in your skill set, there 'shouldn't' be any issues.

Give it a month or two, and you'll be able to buy the same exact kit from third party sellers from EBay for $10 less. You can already buy a copy of their 54 bit set for less than what iFixit charges.

Edit: Never mind, there are already similar kits with more pieces, though I didn't see a spudger (which isn't really needed) for around $10.

Wish they would include more spudgers, I've always found those things to barely last past one or two uses.

May I suggest Fender 346 picks? Cheap as chips. You can also "daisy chain" multiple ones around the screen to keep the leverage. (I think the correct word is purchase not leverage.)

I was referring to the 7. I've fixed my own 5, 5S, replaced batteries, front screens etc.
From what I've seen it just looks like it will be a little more of a pain to lift the screen and obviously the water resistance will be compromised when put back together. Maybe in the future there will be adhesive kits to remedy that.

I think adhesive makes things much more difficult to repair. You risk bending and breaking the smallest of components. It's almost easier to replace than repair.
