This is a whiny rant. You've been warned.
So I have this awesome dual 2.7 GHz Power Mac G5, right?
Well it fails to boot all the way some of the time, and often, when trying to sleep it turns off, but 15 minutes later the fans are running at full bore, so sleep is problematic.
I've run it for a week with all the peripherals disconnected, I've reformatted the hard drive and started from scratch, fun FSCK, zapped the PRAM, NVRAM manually, done sudo maintenance, updated the prebindings - the works - even ran DiskWarrior. It still does it, and when I took it into the "Genius Bar," of course it wouldn't duplicate the behavior.
Then I buy the Mighty Mouse, which I love, and all of the sudden, the squeeze function initiates whenever it feels like it, so I have had to totally disable that feature, which is a shame, because I used that to show desktop.
Then, my dream come true, I buy a 30-inch Cinema Display, and I blow two of those up before getting a good one.
A few months ago I bought an X800 XT video card to use with Aperture, and about two weeks ago, i boot the machine and it sounds like a blender inside, so I send the card off to ATI, they replace the fan, I reinstall it, and even with the latest drivers and the latest firmware, the fan runs full bore.
So I reformatted the second drive on my machine as a last ditch attempt t fix the sleep and boot issues (it's a Seagate, the machine came with a max sucks) and it's quieter, but now I can hear it make an annyoing writing sound every ten seconds or so.
I just want something I can enjoy working on.
So I will send the X800 XT back AGAIN this week, and since I am going to Georgia for five days, I figure I will leave the PowerCrap with the Apple Store and get them to try and have it duplicate the problems.
Oh, and Software Update crashed four times trying to load all the updates last night.
Blargh!!!
